Mother Appeals for Help After US Marine Son Goes Missing During Vacation in Puerto Rico
A US Marine Samuel Muturi Wanjiru vanished while on vacation in Puerto Rico with his girlfriend leaving his family distraught.
The incident occurred on March 27 and despite extensive efforts to locate him, his whereabouts remain unknown. Muturi's mother recounts the sequence of events in a recent interview. Her son had traveled to Puerto Rico to celebrate his birthday and had contacted her upon arrival, assuring her of the destination's safety.
The following day, the couple went swimming in the ocean. While his girlfriend opted to leave the water early, Muturi continued enjoying himself. Tragically, a powerful wave knocked him down, and he was never seen again. The mother expresses utter disbelief, emphasizing that her son was swimming near the shore in an area deemed safe, without the need for lifeguard supervision.
She conveys her growing despair as days have turned into weeks with no sign of Muturi. Disappointingly, she laments a lack of substantial support from the US military in the search efforts. Highlighting her son's exemplary service, the mother describes him as a decorated Marine, recognized for his exceptional skills. In the face of this crisis, she has reached out to the public, pleading for both financial and emotional assistance.
The family desperately hopes to locate their son and is seeking the kindness and prayers of the community.
