The untimely demise of 19-year-old Faith Musembi has taken a troubling turn as new revelations have come to light.

The lifeless body of the young woman was discovered in her rented room at Pilot Estate, Thika Sub-County, last week, and the investigation has now led to the apprehension of a 25-year-old university student as the primary suspect. According to preliminary findings, the suspect and the victim shared an intimate relationship. The police believe that the alleged motive behind the suspected murder was infidelity, as the victim's placenta had detached, leading to excessive bleeding. Authorities are currently investigating whether the suspect had doubts about the paternity of the unborn child.

Thika Police Boss Lawrence Muchangi confirms that the main suspect is in custody and the case is being handled by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO). The suspect will be brought before the court as the investigation progresses. The tragic events unfolded when Faith's father Boniface Musembi discovered her lifeless body after she had gone missing. Adding to the family's anguish, the killer had contacted them, demanding a ransom for her release. Initially, the family complied and sent Sh27,000, but the perpetrator increased the demand to Sh60,000, insisting on prompt payment if they valued their daughter's life.

Despite their distress, the Musembi family faced disappointment when they visited the Thika West Police Station. The officers dismissed their concerns, suggesting that the situation might be a ploy orchestrated by Faith's friends. Expressing their desire for justice, Boniface Musembi stated, "We want the authorities to ensure that the person responsible for this heinous act is punished to the fullest extent of the law."
