Moses Kuria Exposes Gachagua's Poisoning Fears and Financial Demands
Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has levelled grave allegations against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Kuria has launched a blistering attack on Gachagua, accusing him of paranoia and harboring unfounded fears of being poisoned, which allegedly led to the Deputy President's refusal to consume tea at State House. Kuria's accusations come amidst mounting speculation of a rift between Gachagua and President William Ruto, with reports suggesting a significant disconnect in their working relationship. The Cabinet Secretary poses direct questions to the Deputy President regarding his conduct and intentions, casting doubt on the security measures at Gachagua's Karen Residence where Cabinet Committee meetings are held.
Kuria hints at potential collaboration with Gachagua should he address these questions satisfactorily, suggesting a willingness to join his political movement. However, the Cabinet Secretary has not held back levelling accusations regarding financial demands made by Gachagua. Kuria claims that the Deputy President requests Sh10 billion from President Ruto, purportedly to 'fix' issues in the Mt Kenya region. He questions the intended use of these funds and their benefit to the residents of the region.
According to Kuria, Gachagua's reaction to President Ruto's refusal to provide the requested funds was less than professional, with reports of tantrums being thrown by the Deputy President. The Cabinet Secretary further scrutinizes Gachagua's leadership capabilities, particularly concerning his recent remarks and his role in leading the Mt Kenya region. He challenges Gachagua's absence from presidential duties, contrasting it with President Ruto's alleged continuous work ethic.
Kuria also probes into Gachagua's future political ambitions, specifically whether he intends to run for the presidency in 2027. The Cabinet Secretary further claims that Gachagua pressured President Ruto to dismiss him from his position and orchestrated his transfer from the Ministry of Trade and Investments. Kuria reveals that before the 2022 General Elections, Gachagua had refused to join a party allied with Mt Kenya before eventually merging with the Kenya Kwanza Alliance. Now, according to Kuria, Gachagua is urging leaders to abandon the government and align with his party.
