Ruto Confirms Ksh3 Billion NYOTA Business Support Payout From 10 July
Disbursements under the second phase of the NYOTA Business Support programme will begin on Friday, 10 July, with Ksh3 billion set to be released to young entrepreneurs.
President William Ruto confirmed the rollout after a briefing at State House earlier this week. The programme will reach 122,000 beneficiaries across the country, with simultaneous launches planned at 18 venues covering all 47 counties. This marks a shift from the staggered distribution used in the first phase.
Each participant will receive Ksh25,000 in this tranche, in addition to a similar amount already disbursed earlier in the year. This brings the total support per beneficiary to Ksh50,000. According to the government, all recipients have completed mandatory business development training intended to strengthen their capacity to manage and grow their enterprises.
Delays in the programme’s implementation were previously raised by the World Bank in June. Cooperatives Principal Secretary Susan Mang’eni attributed the setback to budgetary constraints, noting that compressing the project into a single financial year placed pressure on available resources. Although disbursement had initially been scheduled for 30 June, it was pushed back by ten days.
The programme, implemented through the State Department for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and backed by the World Bank, is aimed at supporting youth-led businesses and improving access to finance. Officials say the combination of training and financial support is intended to strengthen small enterprises and improve long-term sustainability.
