Kenyan Family in US Mourns Mark Zimmer After Fatal Seattle Road Accident

A Kenyan family in the United States is mourning the death of 29-year-old Mark Zimmer, who was killed in a road accident in Seattle, Washington, on 20 July. 

His relatives are now making arrangements to return his body to Kenya for burial. Zimmer's mother, Salome Ngina, is among those grieving the loss of her son. Relatives described him as a kind, hardworking young man whose presence brought happiness and support to those around him. They said his death has left a deep sense of loss within the family.

His wider family has also come together to support the funeral arrangements. His uncles, Steve Wabai of Baltimore, Nick Chege of Delaware and Njoroge of Boston, along with his cousin George Gaturu of Baltimore, are assisting the family as they prepare for his burial.

Plans to repatriate Zimmer's body to Kenya are under way. Family members said funeral and memorial arrangements are still being finalised and will be announced once they have been confirmed.

Members of the Kenyan community in the United States have begun offering financial and emotional support to the family. The cost of returning a body to Kenya is significant, and members of the diaspora are helping to ease the financial burden.

Friends and acquaintances have also paid tribute to Zimmer on social media. They remembered him as an optimistic person who was devoted to his family and valued his friendships. Many shared personal memories that reflected the impact he had on those who knew him.
