NASA Names Suba South MP John Mbadi as Minority Leader in the National Assembly

National Super Alliance (NASA) has named Suba South MP John Mbadi as the leader of minority in the National Assembly.

The opposition submitted the list of its leadership in the house to National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi on Wednesday. John Mbadi is the new minority leader, while Kathiani MP Robert Mbui will be his deputy. Suna East MP Junet Mohamed is the minority whip , to be deputized by Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa.

Nasa failed to table the list for months after the its affiliate parties— Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Ford-Kenya, Wiper and Amani National Congress (ANC) clashed over the limited House positions.

A section of Nasa leaders have rejected the list submitted to the Speaker of National Assembly. Coast MPs, led by Suleiman Dori of Msambweni said no parliamentary meeting was called to pick the names. They further claimed the list submitted failed to show regional representation and gender balance.

The National Assembly resumed its sittings after taking two breaks since the election of Members of Parliament in the August 8th election.
