Ruto, Raila Lead Kenyan Delegation in Cultural Showcase at German Event

President William Ruto, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, First Lady Rachel Ruto, and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi represented Kenya at the Annual Citizens Festival in Berlin, Germany on Friday.

The event was held at Schloss Bellevue, the German President's official residence and celebrated cultural diversity and unity, with Kenya honoured as the first non-European Profile Partner Country. President Ruto emphasized the importance of the event in strengthening cultural ties between Kenya and Germany, highlighting both nations' recognition of national unity as a driving force for progress. The Kenyan delegation captivated audiences with traditional music and dance performances, while contemporary artists demonstrated the country's evolving creative economy.

This cultural showcase provided a unique platform for Kenyan artists to engage with their German counterparts, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration. Ambassador Stella Orina, Kenya's representative to Germany, lauded the festival's significance in highlighting Kenya's economic potential, investment opportunities, and market stability. The event facilitated bilateral engagements between Kenya and Germany, including high-level meetings with German officials. A key outcome of these discussions was the signing of a comprehensive Labour Mobility Agreement, witnessed by President Ruto and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

This landmark agreement aims to promote labour migration, apprenticeships, student training, and employment opportunities for Kenyans in Germany, while also addressing employee welfare and repatriation issues. The festival encompassed more than cultural exhibitions, featuring discussions on tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges. President Ruto also participated in a CEO Forum, promoting Kenya as an attractive destination for foreign investment and emphasizing the country's commitment to creating a favourable business environment. Interactive sessions allowed attendees to delve deeper into Kenya's traditions, cuisine, and artistic expressions.
