Kenya’s Evans Chebet on Monday won his second straight Boston Marathon in an unofficial time of 2 hours 5 minutes and 54 seconds, the third-fastest time in race history.
The 34-year-old beat his 2:06:51 finish in 2022, becoming the first man to win the Boston Marathon in back-to-back years since Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot won three straight from 2006 to 2008.
Gabriel Geay of Tanzania came in second at 2:06:04 while Kenyan Benson Kipruto finished third at 2:06:06. Kenya's Albert Korir (2:08:01) placed fourth followed by Morocco's Zouhair Talbi (2:08:35).
World marathon record holder and two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya finished in sixth place at 2:09:23, his slowest marathon finish ever.
Kipchoge, 38, was aiming to win the 16th marathon out of the 18 he has participated in but fell away from the leading pack after the 30km mark. It was his first time running at the Boston Marathon.
Hellen Obiri, a two-time Olympic silver medalist in the 5,000 meters, won the women’s race in an unofficial time of 2 hours 21 minutes, and 38 seconds.
Obiri finished 12 seconds ahead of second-place Amane Beriso from Ethiopia (02:21:50) with Israel's Lonah Salpeter coming third (02:21:57).

I congratulate team Kenya with trepitadation, unfortunately. This was never the case till winners started being 'smoked' out for doping. In fact3 Boston winners two females, and one male have been banned for doping.Needless to name them if are a sports officinado, you know them.Nonetheless I congratulate them particints especially the winners.
As I said before elsewhere. In my opinion Obiri Helen is the best female Kenyan athlete so far.Now training and living in the USA,we hope that she still continues to represent Kenya. However,if she switches allegience,I wish her the best. She has done Kenya proud.
Hongera sana! IS Chebet a female name?
