Kenyan Comedian Elsa Majimbo Over the Moon After Singer Rihanna Follows Her on Instagram

2020 has been a bad year for many people in Kenya and around the world but not for Kenyan online comedy sensation Elsa Majimbo.

The 19-year-old recently joined the A-listers shortlist after she was followed by pop star Robyn Fenty, alias Rihanna on Instagram. Rihanna has 87.5 million followers on Insta and follows only 1,500 people.

Majimbo took to Instagram to share a screenshot showing Rihanna’s verified page following her. She is the only Kenyan followed by the Barbados-born singer and actress.

This comes barely three months after she landed a lucrative deal with Rihanna’s cosmetics brand, Fenty Beauty as a brand ambassador.

“My 19-year-old self literally got a chance to work with FentyOfficial. I’m so proud!!!! Thanking the Fenty fam they’ve been so amazing and Rihanna for this amazing brand,” she said in September.

Rihanna launched the cosmetic brand in 2017 and is said to have made a total of $100 million in the first few weeks.

Majimbo rose to fame this year after her hilarious videos went viral on Instagram and Twitter in March following a nationwide lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

She has since been featured by international media platforms such as The Guardian, New York Times, CNN, BBC, and recently Forbes.

Last month, she won the prestigious E! People’s Choice Awards in the African Social Star category.

She is currently followed by over 1.4 million people on Instagram.
