National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has been installed as Mt. Kenya region spokesperson.
Muturi was installed by Njuri Ncheke elders in an elaborate ceremony held at their shrines in Nchiru, Meru County on Saturday, according to The Star.
During the ceremony attended by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya, Muturi was given the green light to run for president in 2022.
He becomes the fifth leader to be coronated by Njuri Ncheke after Kenya’s first President Jomo Kenyatta, retired President Mwai Kibaki, President Uhuru, and Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi.
Muturi, 64, is among leaders who have been touted as possible successors of President Kenyatta as Mt. Kenya region’s kingpin.
Also in the mix is Governors Mwangi wa Iria (Murang’a) and Kiraitu Murungi (Meru), CS Munya, former CS Mwangi Kiunjuri, former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, and former presidential aspirant Peter Kenneth.
With his second and final term expiring next year, President Kenyatta is expected to hang his political boots, paving the way for a new kingpin in the vote-rich Mt. Kenya region.

Muturi is an Embu. Njuri Ncheke elders are Meru. Fake installation.
I will buy it if it is aimed at uniting all Kenyans not Mt Kenya Kenyans
Whose spokesman?Can a corrupt magistrate,kina Kang’ata,Wangari Karua/Njoka be my spokeperson?Maybe for the elite thugs led by Uhuru,wauaji Murathe,Kamanda,Wanjiru etc.
Greater Mt Kenya (Kirinyaga) unity is a step in the right direction other communities should unite in to entities that are respected for the common good not to fight other communities and definitly not for political reasons no community in Kenya can survive by itself since time immemorial united we stand divided we fall
The more populous Kikuyu will not allow a native from the Meru sub tribe be their spokesperson.Take that to the bank.Editor hapa umechoma
