I am neither a leader of any of the millions of USA groupings nor a spokesman of any party in Kenya, I am a concerned Kenyan living in the USA calling my fellow brothers and sisters to a meeting to give back to our motherland.
After much soul-searching I have decided to send out a passionate request to all diaspora USA leaders to lay down their weapons and come to the table. We have the Best chance to chart out a future for Kenya by coming together face to face and disuse the future of our country without outside influence.
The insecurity in Kenya today, ever rising cost of living and the roaming Referendum amongst many others issues; calls for a meeting of serious people in the Diaspora. We in the USA can lead the way.
I have always believed that there are serious progressive leaders in the Diaspora from all a close USA. Kenyans who can discuss national issues without washing each other with soup.
I hope that Washington Osiro, iPhone and all others on this Forum will pick up this challenge. I will probably have an opportunity to meet Osiro and iPhone, David Ochwangi and others.
We have an opportunity to meet in New York as most Kenyans in the USA will be there to meet with their leaders who will accompany the President for the UN meeting. We can take this opportunity and probably change the way we address national issues.
Just a thought.

An accusation is just that; an accusation. To say that you do not want to be associated with someone accused of crimes against humanity is premature. The case is pending, apparently for lack of evidence. To be accused of crime, any crime, means nothing unless one is proven guilty.
@Robert....first ,this is not any crime....this is CRIMES AGANIST HUMANITY,MURDER,RAPE AND FOCIBLE TRANSFER OF POPULATION!!
Second,have a seat...wewe enda hakuna mtu amekuzuia.
It's hard to have such a meeting while we do not even agree what are the main problems that we are facing.
Some of us feel that Kikuyu notion of entitlement is the main problem facing the nation. Yet when we try to discuss this in this forum, you (John Kamau), insist that Raila is the problem. Anyway am glad for the invite but till we get real serious about the cause of our problems nationally, such meeting will not be likely to yeild anything of value.
In addition your choice of venue and the timing seems to suggest this is a Jubilee oriented meeting. So that begs the quetion how about those of us who are opposed to this current administration?
Good idea, Bw Kamau. But then, Wakenya ni wale wale tu. We cross the pond and become some sort of competing small gods who cannot listen to each other. We think that by virtue of just being in the US, we are the sharpest tools in the shed, pretty much like Kenyan university graduates back in Jamhuri. We don't want to think highly of anybody else but ourselves.
Further, when you invoke the name of somebody like iphone G as a possible participant in such a forum, a regular contributor on this blog, you piss off a lot of otherwise level-headed folks who can respond to your call. Iphone G is a miserable, extremely angry Kenyan who has never come to terms with fact that Jubilee is at the helm in Nairobi. If she could revel in the shameful act of some hooligans throwing stones and other projectiles at the CEO, Kenya Inc last week, what kind of contribution do you think such a person would bring to the table? All in all, I think it would make a nice forum for us to meet each other and exchange some pleasantries and apologies but I doubt my security in the presence of someone like iphoneG. A fight could even break out coz there are lots of folks bitter with others based on this blog. If I make it, I hope I will be allowed in with a rungu (I will keep it concealed, though)
@MLACHAKE........hehehe..... really a runguu!I not a physically violent person and am not going to jail for physical altercations...-I have very good control of my emotions and my words..hehehe..... I have been to these meeting several times in NY...at the Hemsely , waldof Astoria, the marriot ......so I know what goes on in these events... the entrouage from Kenya are on a mission of networking and looking for ways to get 'pesa ya diaspora'..... n then by the way U talk to these goverment officials U will be left here in USA dealing with their annoyin family members..... believe me people like me are the least of ur problem when u go there...... marelatives zao kwanza.... yaani some of them tell U things.... alafu Kenya politicians with their delect egos...they can't handle a tornado like me...hehehe...go n enjoy urself.... make sure u go their with a mission....and what u are willing to offer in return.....they always have free wine...toast to Kenya....
Excellent idea John Kamau- you bring up pertinent issues, expecially security- that we need to partner with our government to fix. Very interesting that I was actually talking about this very topic with a dear friend of mine today and I just looked here what do you know, voila! You are talking about it. Let's see how best our ideas can compliment those of the government.
Like all the above, I think this is a great idea but
- I have a prior committment on that day,
- I would like to do more groundwork re: formalization of the objective of such a meeting, rules of the meeting, participants, location and
- (c) get a better sense of who the participants really are, their intentions, state of mind, sincerity etc. I sense some "bad blood" between some in this forum and would want to get a sense that the "bad blood" is just passionate debate - the making of the sausage as some have described the democratic process - before committing.
My email is appended to all my postings so feel free to reach out to me off-line.
Who are these so called Diaspora leaders?. Who has appointed them? or are you talking about the self-appointed ones. Please do not put a group of self serving individuals to present them to Jubilee officials as 'Diaspora leaders'. That is imposting. You could have just said meeting of 'interested Diasporans'
Observer,
Please note that You are welcome, I threw out a call for us to get togther and chart our way forward as a united Diaspora.
As most have clearly sudgested This would be a great opportunity for people to meet and share in solutions for the milliard problems facing our Country. You are a host as well as a memeber please come and say your piece.
Pleaser watch this space for a venue and a time.
