Maina Kageni with 1% Support for Nairobi Women Representative Seat

Classic 105 presenter Maina Kageni has emerged third in an opinion poll in the race for the Nairobi Women Representative seat.

In the poll, Maina trailed ODM’s Esther Passaris and Rachel Shebesh of Jubilee Party with just 1% of Nairobians supporting him for the seat. Passari has 57% support while Shebesh, the incumbent, enjoys 24% support.

The survey was conducted by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA).

Kageni caused stirred a last month after he announced plans for vie for the seat as an independent candidate. Although he said he has been cleared by the IEBC to run for the seat, Kageni candidature has been viewed by many as a joke, because the seat Women Rep seats were meant to be occupied by women to create more gender parity in the Kenyan parliament. He chose a wig as his symbol.
