Kenyans React to Babu Owino's Unthinkable Insult on President Uhuru
Kenyans have taken to social media to criticize Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino over his filthy remarks on Sunday that appeared to be directed at President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking while on a campaign trail with National Super Alliance (NASA) Leaders the newly elected MP insulted the President using unthinkable words.
"If Muammar Gaddafi (Libya) was removed by citizens if Laurent Gbagbo (Ivory Coast) were removed by citizens if Yahya Jammeh (Gambia) was removed by citizens, who are you? Wewe ni mtoto wa mbwa (you are the son of a dog)," Babu thundered.
The Embakasi East Mp also hit back at the Deputy President William Ruto whom he said had sought to know the meaning of the word "tibim", frequently used by Nasa leaders.
"Ruto asked the meaning of tibim. Tibim means that they should be removed from State House."
"And I ask our elders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo that immediately they leave State House, throw them in Kamiti Prison because they have stolen from Kenyans," Babu stated.
On Monday, Babu, in a post on Facebook denied insulting the Head of State and maintained he would not apologize.
“I will not apologize to anyone because I called nobody’s name during my yesterday’s address. We have so many presidents in Kenya, from the President of Sonu to all presidents of students union in Kenya, President of the Supreme Court, President of Youth senate and many more,"
“However I will stick to objective politics and will never abuse anybody. Let my brothers and sisters from the kikuyu nation know that I did not abuse their president. One kenya one nation… God bless Kenya,” he wrote.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, in a Facebook post, called on the Director of Criminal Investigation Ndegwa Muhoro, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett, and Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko to act immediately.
“I still hold you in high regard. The cell number 4 at Pangani (police station) which has hosted me frequently is waiting for Babu Owino. I trust this will be done today (Monday) to save me unnecessary time, effort and resources tomorrow,” Kuria said.
Here are some reactions by Kenyans on social media:
