Kenya Airways Named Africa's Leading Airline
Kenya Airways has been named the leading airline in the Africa continent for the second consecutive year at the 24th Annual World Travel Awards event held on Tuesday in Kigali, Rwanda.
Kenya Airways pipped other 2017 nominees including South African Airways, RwandAir, EgyptAir and Royal Air Maroc to clinch the prestigious title.
KQ also clinched the top spot in the Business Class category for the fifth consecutive year, with the Economy Class category being bagged by Ethiopian Airlines - for the fifth year in a row.
“Winning these awards would not have been possible without the passion and dedication of the Kenya Airways team and the strong support from our guests. Our guests are at the heart of everything we do at the airline and these two awards confirm our undeterred commitment to them,” said KQ boss Sebastian Mikosz in a statement.
Ethiopian Airlines was named as the continent's leading carrier brand, defeating Kenya Airways, South African Airways, RwandAir, EgyptAir, Tunisair and Royal Air Maroc, who had been nominated for the category.
South Africa's Cape Town International Airport was feted Africa's leading hub while Diani Beach in Kenya bagged the region's leading beach destination.
