Kenya Airways has been named the leading airline in the Africa continent for the second consecutive year at the 24th Annual World Travel Awards event held on Tuesday in Kigali, Rwanda.
Kenya Airways pipped other 2017 nominees including South African Airways, RwandAir, EgyptAir and Royal Air Maroc to clinch the prestigious title.
KQ also clinched the top spot in the Business Class category for the fifth consecutive year, with the Economy Class category being bagged by Ethiopian Airlines - for the fifth year in a row.
“Winning these awards would not have been possible without the passion and dedication of the Kenya Airways team and the strong support from our guests. Our guests are at the heart of everything we do at the airline and these two awards confirm our undeterred commitment to them,” said KQ boss Sebastian Mikosz in a statement.
Ethiopian Airlines was named as the continent's leading carrier brand, defeating Kenya Airways, South African Airways, RwandAir, EgyptAir, Tunisair and Royal Air Maroc, who had been nominated for the category.
South Africa's Cape Town International Airport was feted Africa's leading hub while Diani Beach in Kenya bagged the region's leading beach destination.

I've flown w K in the last 2 years and was very impressed.
Big joke. The prices are unreasonable and the service is OK.Obviously when you look at who it was competing against then you understand how it came to be tops
Nonsense ... the hosteses need to use deodrant .. its ridiculous for to be stinking of sweat. The hosteses are also very urgly - they put on sooo much make-up - why cant KQ hire our beautiful walalo girls or even the indians. What they have on those flights is a sight of horor. I even saw one picking his nose as he pushed that food cart. Then they give you yorghut from brookside - i guess uhuru alishinda hio tender - Also ensure you carry your own ear phones if you intend to watch any movie - the ear phones they have on flight never work - I only give him a good score for punctuality
Gosh, this is either Fake news or if it is true, the other airlines must really suck.
