Chief Justice David Maraga Casts His Ballot
Chief Justice David Maraga on Thursday cast his vote in the repeat presidential election in Nyamira County.
Maraga arrived at Bosose polling centre in West Mugirango constituency and cast his ballot at around 1.55pm in the company of his wife.
The President of the Judiciary engaged in a brief conversation with Nyamira County Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi before proceeding to cast his vote.
Approached by the media for an interview, the Chief Justice declined to take questions and only said he had completed his mission (to vote).
"I have finished my mission and I can now leave," he said. "I am not ready to answer any question," he added.
This comes only hours after the Supreme Court failed to hear a case to postpone the poll filed by three voters due to quorum hitches.
Maraga, together with three other judges of the Supreme Court including Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, Justices Smokin Wanjala and Isaac Lenaola ruled in favor to nullify the August 8th poll citing illegalities and irregularities and ordered a fresh poll within 60 days.
