House Gifted to Single Mother by President Uhuru Handed to Another Family after She Rejected it
A house gifted to a Nakuru single mother whose son cracked President Kenyatta's ribs during a function at 3KR army barracks in Lanet in 2014, will be given to another needy family after they rejected it.
Nakuru North Deputy County Commissioner Mutua Kisilu says he has received instructions to give the two-bedroom house to a more needy family that is ready to appreciate the gift.
“We are set to hand over the house to another family after the family which had been gifted turned down the offer terming it as substandard. Plans to have the new family move in are already underway."
"We were instructed to profile three families from which one would be picked as the new owners. The lucky family is one of a man who has been living with his three disabled children at a local church,” says Kisilu.
The house had been gifted to Damaris Wambui Kamau courtesy of her son Dennis Ngaruiya, but she rejected it on grounds that it was substandard.
“This is a big joke. Look at this house. It has cracks on the outside and looks like a semi-permanent house while President Kenyatta in his wisdom meant well for us as a family,” said Ms. Wambui last week.
“Why is that officer at State House playing tricks on me and my son. One day President Uhuru Kenyatta will know these tricks.”
“Mr. President wanted to leave a memorable mark in the life of my son and I don’t think he meant such shoddy work."
