MP Beatrice Kones' Son Passes Away in an Alleged Suicide

John Wanjohi Mar 01, 2019

Bomet East Member of Parliament Beatrice Kones’ son has passed away in what is alleged to be suicide.

Collins Kipyegon, 40, was rushed to the War Memorial Hospital in Nakuru on Friday morning after allegedly consuming poison at his home in Kiamunyi estate.

Kipyegon was pronounced dead moments after arriving at the hospital.

“He was rushed here early morning for having taken poison and doctors did all they could do to save his life but unfortunately he died," a doctor who sought anonymity told the Standard.

A close friend who spoke to the Standard divulged that Kipyegon was having marital conflicts with his wife.

“He has been having marital issues which we suspect drove him to commit suicide,” he says.

His wife and three children were away during the incident.

Kones' family is yet to issue a statement on Kipyegon's death. MP Kones is reported to be out of the country on official duty.
