Lawrence Cherono of Kenya Wins 2019 Boston Marathon

Lawrence Cherono is the 2019 winner of the men’s race of the Boston Marathon. Cherono finished the 123rd running of the Boston Marathon in an unofficial time of 2:07:59, beating Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia and Kenneth Kipkemoi of Kenya in a sprint towards the tape. Desisa, a two-time winner of the Boston Marathon, finished a mere second behind Cherono in a time of 2:08:00. Kipekemoi was a close third in a time of 2:08:06.

Ethiopia’s Worksnesh Degefa  won the women’s race in an unofficial time of 2:23.31 after opening a large gap between her and the rest of the field just four miles into the race. Edna Kiplagat of Kenya,winner of the 2017 Boston Marathon, finished second in 2:24:13, followed in third place by Jordan Hasay of the United States in 2:25:20.
