Kenyan Lawyer Stabbed by Girlfriend in Nairobi

A 33-year-old Nairobi-based lawyer is fighting for his life at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) after he was stabbed by his girlfriend.

David Ochieng was stabbed three times on the collar bone, abdomen, and on the back at his house in Nairobi’s Umoja Innercore estate on Sunday night.

The two are said to have quarreled after the girlfriend saw a text message from another woman who was asking for financial assistance from the lawyer, according to a police report on the incident.

The altercation saw the suspect 24-year-old Linda Okumu, a student at the University of Eldoret, stab the man using a kitchen knife.

Ochieng was rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital at around 2:00 am in serious condition and was later transferred to KNH, where he is currently undergoing treatment for stab wounds.

Ms. Okumu was arrested and placed under police custody pending arraignment in court.
