A Nigerian national linked to the gruesome murder of a prominent Kenyan female lawyer has been arrested in Nairobi.

Christian Mwambay Kadima was smoked out of his hideout at a Nairobi lodging by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday night.

The DCI said the suspect tried to outsmart officers by driving his getaway car to Riruta to create a false impression of his whereabouts.

Mwambay is said to have killed lawyer Elizabeth Koki in her house in Syokimau, Machakos County, where the two were living together.

The suspect was seen leaving the house on Thursday evening before the victim’s lifeless body was found in her bedroom on Friday morning by her house help.

“The house help grew suspicious when by 10 am, her employer hadn’t woken up. She then walked into her bedroom only to find her lying lifeless on the bed, with bloody bruises on her body,” the DCI said in a statement.
