Kenyans in the US and Ten Other Countries Can Book an Appointment to Register as Voters

John Wanjohi Jan 17, 2022

Kenyans in the US and 10 other countries can book an appointment to register as voters ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Those wishing to vote in the August 9th elections are required to book an appointment on https://cvr.iebc.or.ke/#appointment, then visit the nearest Kenyan high commission, embassy, or consulate to register as a voter, change voting station, or voter details.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) added six more countries to the list of diaspora voting, including the US, UK, Canada, South Sudan, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Kenyans in these countries will have an opportunity to vote in the August 9th elections alongside those in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Africa that participated in the last election in 2017.

A 15-day voter registration exercise for Kenyans in the 11 nations will commence on January 21st and end on February 6th. IEBC indicated that diaspora voters will only be allowed to participate in the presidential election.

“The registration exercise will be conducted during the official working hours at the Kenyan Embassies, High Commission, and Consulates in the respective countries,” IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati said.
