Kenyans in the US and Ten Other Countries Can Book an Appointment to Register as Voters

Kenyans in the US and 10 other countries can book an appointment to register as voters ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Those wishing to vote in the August 9th elections are required to book an appointment on https://cvr.iebc.or.ke/#appointment, then visit the nearest Kenyan high commission, embassy, or consulate to register as a voter, change voting station, or voter details.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) added six more countries to the list of diaspora voting, including the US, UK, Canada, South Sudan, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Kenyans in these countries will have an opportunity to vote in the August 9th elections alongside those in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Africa that participated in the last election in 2017.

A 15-day voter registration exercise for Kenyans in the 11 nations will commence on January 21st and end on February 6th. IEBC indicated that diaspora voters will only be allowed to participate in the presidential election.

“The registration exercise will be conducted during the official working hours at the Kenyan Embassies, High Commission, and Consulates in the respective countries,” IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati said.

Omutata should come in for the Kenyan in diaspora in terms of voting/ registration.
1. Its a right for Kenyans to ringster and vote.
2. Its putting a lot to individual in time and money- Some will need to fly to the different consulate ( Minimum of $500-$600) and hotel cost for those who are working time off no pay. ( for those in USA)

No doubt we love our Nation but can this be give and take good people if the GK is not stepping to making registration accessible to all! then its a good time for for different parties register their own members.

Do they have ears to know that we don't live near the embassies if u can't go every state forget it man its an exercise in futility many don't care even to vote they have settled in those countries and don't plan to return. No wonder you have not made it easy to for those abroad to get state jobs .

I love my country so much I have to fly from North Dakota to Dc to register to vote and agin to vote. Kenya is a poor third world and corrupt country to conduct a global outreach election let’s face it. It’s easier for one to hop into KQ for the few willing to vote than to set up a voting kiosk in every state for a few to vote.

C'mon my fellow Kenyans, at least the government is trying to accommodate us. The vastness of the USA makes it practically impossible for the Kenya government to set up polling stations in every nook and cranny across the land. I will drive my recreational vehicle from Key West FL all the way to DC to vote come what may.
