Kenyans in Atlanta Gather to Mourn Sarah and Support Her Family
Members of the Kenyan community in the Atlanta area are mourning the death of a woman identified as Sarah, as friends, relatives and community members rally around her family.
A prayer and fellowship service was held on Friday, 14 August, at the Kenyan American Community Church (KACC) on Elberta Drive in Marietta. The gathering was scheduled from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, giving community members an opportunity to remember Sarah and support those affected by her death.
Organisers urged Kenyans and other friends in the Atlanta area to attend the service and support the family during the bereavement. In a message shared on Facebook, they said the family's strength would come from the presence, prayers and solidarity of those around them.
The circumstances surrounding Sarah's death have not been made public. Her family and friends have also appealed for financial assistance to help meet expenses following her death, with contributions being channelled through designated family members.
The community has continued to support the family as arrangements are made. Such gatherings also give members of the Kenyan diaspora an opportunity to provide emotional, spiritual and practical support when relatives are dealing with loss away from their wider family networks.
