President Ruto Appoints Amin Mohamed as the New DCI Director

President Ruto has appointed Amin Mohamed Ibrahim as the new director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to replace George Kinoti, who resigned last month.

His appointment was made through a gazette notice dated October 14th and signed by the president.

Until his appointment, Amin was the Director of the Internal Affairs Unit at the National Police Service (NPS) and previously served in senior positions including heading the CID Investigations Bureau and the Banking Fraud Investigations Unit.

Amin was among the 10 shortlisted candidates who were interviewed by the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) for the position on Tuesday.

Others candidates were former Nairobi regional DCI Chief Ireri Kamwende, Eliud Lagat (Director of Reforms at DCI headquarters), Mwangi Wanderi (head of DCI Railways Command), Munga Nyale (Principal Assistant to the Inspector General at the NPS headquarters), and Coast Regional Criminal Investigations officer Walumoli Barasa.

Former head of Legal Services at DCI headquarters Michael Wiso, David Birech (head of Police Reforms), Paul Ndambuki, who has previously served at INTERPOL Headquarters in Lyon, France and at the DCI Academy, and Esther Seroney (Bomet County Police Commander) also faced the panel.
