Chantou Kwamboka has been crowned the new Miss World Kenya 2022, taking over from Sharon Obara.

She was declared the winner of the 50th edition of the Miss World Kenya 2022 competition during a colorful event held at Two Rivers Mall in Nairobi on Saturday.

Kwamboka, who was the 1st runner up in the 2021 Miss World Kenya, walked away with Sh250,000 grand prize and a year’s worth of grooming services worth Sh500,000 at Ashleys Kenya.

Faith Wanjiku took the 1st runner-up position, while former Miss Universe Kenya 2018 Wabaiya Kariuki secured the 2nd runner-up position.

The pageant attracted more than 1,000 applicants from across the country, with only 42 making it to the boot camp. 17 contestants made it to the finals of Miss World Kenya 2022.

The gala for the 2022 Miss World Kenya was graced by Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports, and the Arts Ababu Namwamba as the chief guest.

Speaking at the event, Namwamba called on Kenyans to reflect on the impact of beauty pageants on our society’s social, economic, and political spheres.

He also pledged the ministry’s support to help take the beauty pageantry and the creatives to the next level, saying there was still a lot of untapped potential in the creative economy sector, particularly the pageantry industry.

Miss World Kenya is celebrating 50 years of its existence in Kenya this year. The prestigious pageant is franchised by Ashleys Kenya Limited.
