US hotel chain Hyatt has announced it will be opening its first branded hotels in Nairobi after entering into a partnership agreement with Kanha limited.
The American multinational hospitality company will launch Hyatt Place Westlands and Hyatt House Westlands in Nairobi. The two establishments will have a total of 233 guestrooms and are both expected to open in early 2020.
Hyatt Place Westlands will have 173 rooms, while Hyatt House Westlands will comprise 60 apartment-styled suites. The two properties will also have 7,500 square feet conference hall, a restaurant, a bar, and a swimming pool.
“It’s no secret that we have been looking for the right development opportunities for Hyatt in Kenya for some time. Nairobi is the hub of East Africa and this landmark opportunity is only the beginning of Hyatt’s growth in this area,” said Tejas Shah, Hyatt regional vice president for development in sub-Saharan Africa.
Hyatt currently runs five hotels in Africa including Hyatt Regency Casablanca in Morocco, Hyatt Place Taghazout Bay (Morocco), Hyatt Regency Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt, Hyatt Regency Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Park Hyatt (Zanzibar.)
The Chicago-headquartered Hyatt Hotels Corporation currently operates more than 750 properties in over 55 countries across six continents.
