A Kenyan diaspora group based in the United States has thrown its weight behind President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection bid in the August 8th general elections. The group, Uhuruto Diaspora Team, converged in Maryland, USA on Saturday in a show of solidarity with President Uhuru as he seeks a second term in office.
The event attracted supporters of President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto living in Maryland and surrounding states. Speakers at the event praised President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration, commending the work he has done in the last four years. They said that the President deserves another term in office in order to complete what he has kick-started.
”This event is in support of UhuRuto TanoTena, we’re excited and we want them to continue doing what they have been doing, advancing Kenya,” said Jane Waithera of Uhuruto Diaspora Team.
”Kenya is our home and we have families there, when things don’t work out well it also affects us. Every concern that our families have are our concerns because we’re deeply rooted,” said Joseph, originally from Eldoret.
The group of vowed to woo their families back home to rally behind President Uhuru and to maintain peace during and after the elections.

.....and the opposition has totally ruined the counties and constituencies. Pick your poison.
It is called selective amnesia for some people here. You only want to remember evil done from one corner and not the other. If you are going to analyse Kenya politics or pretend to love Kenya and want the best for it - you have to be objective all around give due or criticism where it is deserved.
Please don't thank you!
Hekima you are all over compaigning for Rao.
This are a punch of kikuyu loosers gathered for a gossip. Just call yourselves kukuyus in disspora supporting their drunk.
And what group is this.Looks like a church.
we must not be ruled by two tribes infinitely.
How does a tribe rule?I have never heard of a tribe called-D Mwose,Raila,Moi,Muigai etc.But there is an individual killer called Cannibal Raila who was Kenya's PRIME MURDERER at one time.Another killer is individual Moi who was also Kenya's president/destroyer for 24 years. But i have never heard of Luo/Tugen or Gikuyu tribe being president.
It's Incumbent for UhuRuto to begin Packing their Belongings to Gatundu and Sugoi respectively.
This are all Okuyus in the church. They claim to be spokes people for everyone in diaspora.
Am in diaspora and know that Raila, wind around, same on those supporting thieves in the name of mundu a nyumba, bure kabisa,
A New Chapter: The Presidential portrait and many more ...
Kenyans, 53 years after independence we need to get rid of the following colonial hangovers:
1. Taking an oath of office using the Koran or the Bible.
2. Our judges wearing smelly wigs as they determine the direction your life will take.
3. The presidential portrait should be seen only in government offices.
4. If you are elected to serve the people, you are their servant (mhudumu) and the people being served are the "Wahudumiwa." Let us discard the use of the word, "your excelleny" or "mheshimiwa." The use of the word "mheshimiwa" should be left only for the few individuals who start their personal companies and employ many people. This is the direction that the creative minds of Kenyans should take.
It would have been better if diapora was voting. They help support the economy with the remittance but have no say on running of the country and some of our citizens are in bad jobs being mistreated and even dieing in the Arab world, lots of young deaths amongst those in USA and working in low paying jobs as Nacs, Lpn,Rn all stressful jobs, parking garages, etc. Kenya needs industries and manufacturing to offer people hope and jobs, we need innovation and I donot hear this being discussed. We recycle old leader's who are comfortable with their money. I have been listening to opposition and they have no new ideas to the people so they donot have to leave the country in search of work. Lets face it our economy is too small and makes our people desperate, we are farming less acreage, have cut down too many trees and messed water catchment and ruined our own environment, and no department is addressing this. Our leaders like Kidero in nairobi cannot even assist with making sure unsafe ugly buildings more than 1 story are not put up, buildings keep falling on citizens and killing them, and cannot make sure garbarge is collected, this are simple tasks in the western world but our leaders with Phd cannot supervise to ensure they are carried out appropriately. Simple task of citizens doing honest days work in government is non existant. Our people have refused to work hard and be responsible for the offices they want to occupy, why would anyone want Kidero back, cholera, water issues, buidings collapsing (what ever happened to our town planners, where did they go) crimes and insecurties, uncollected garbage, not paying health workers in time, etc governors are supposed to function like a mini president and show results, they are just stilling the county money. All Governors need to be voted out. Only Governor Mutua of Machakos is trying to work for the citizens. The others treat it like its their Christmas goody bag to use it to raid money from kitty for themselves. NANOK of Turkana had the odacity to hold on the imported maize when turkana was starving so president Uhuru does not get credit for assistance, so he can bring it out later after election causing all the maize to be contaminated with poisonous mold and all the maize had to be destroyed. These Governor's donot care, Nanok needs to help address his people to leave behind the ancient way of life dealing with cattle rattsling, always messing with their Samburus, we need to move from this way of life and those governors in parts of the country where this is still going on need to assist, its harmful to citizens, only the young worriors enjoy this non-sence,the women and children donot, believe me I've lived through this!!!. We need to try and turn the tide b/c the citizens of the country needs to give themselves an "F". Young children are burning schools and looks like we are not alarmed and addressing this, the parents obviously have failed. There is alot of things that needs fixing and it starts in each one of us, like if you're in charge of alot of other people's money, lands, buidings, will you show up to work for the people all week without leaving early or using the time you're supposed to be working for your personal business etc, will you be faithful and accountable? For large majority its a NO!!! Raila and his Company have worked in government and were lousy then and now. We need to introduce civic classes in primary, secondary and highschool to try roll back the poor quality of parenting in our midst and become better citizens. I feel if USA can go from slave owners to pretend empathy with their citizen minorities!, May be we have a chance. As Africans we are good at heart except for our choices of leaders. B/c I have not seen anything saying Uhuru has himself taken any money for himself and his heart is in the right place, I will vote for him. The 5 compatriots have all had corruption issues too,its like they say a 'kettle calling coffee black'!!!!!!!!. My prayers is for all kenyans to start owning more businesses and manufacturing so we can hire our people, also to build our own roads without chinese and other countries help and to trade more with african countries. And for our neighbors (countries ) to decreases their craziness barometer, Tanzania to be serious we want your gas for cooking just add the necessary ingredient to it so it does not kill our kenyan families,I donot think any tanzanian wants to be killed by any kenyan products just for sake of commerce, Somalia take care of your young man all these killings is a waste, time for business now, same with Sudan, put the arms down, you're all winner's you're free, time for business now.

Kwani it is possible for Diaspora to vote. Stop looking for cheap publicity. One tribe cannot continue to rule Kenya when there are 43 other tribes.Send Uhuru ruto your best with a phone call or email muli taka tu kujiona kwa gazetti
I'm a Gikuyu in the US and no one should speak on my behalf. We throw the full weight behind RAILA ODINGA....Period.
We? Aren't you contradicting your earlier statement?
Eh Ahem, I'm in diaspora and I cannot vote, why the hell would I endorse either or when they do not care about Diaspora voters/votes. Y'all need to champion your adopted country governors , senators etc , that is where your bread comes from.
Kindly do not place blanket claim by saying Kenyans in the US, I do not I have never and I will never support Uhuru Kenyatta, I have never known what he stands for, what contribition he has ever made towards social justice and liberation of the proletariat. All I know about him is that he joined Moi and he was fronted to succeed him in 2002, that was not only shameless but also so insensitive of Kenyatta who was well aware that Kenyans woud not have gone an extra day under Moi. All I know about Uhuru is that he once again joined hands with another Kanu off shoot, William Ruto, a cunning, conniving and a dangerous politician who was behind the killing of people in Rift Valley in 2007/8. I was in Kenya then ..perhaps most of you were still in the US..I am a journalist, I therefore am better informed. The Unuru I know of is one who has presided over mega corruption and mismanagement of the economy. All the while deluding others that he was eating meat and they should continue salivating. The Uhuru I know of is one arrogant guy with a bloated ego. The Uhuru I know of is one whose 4.5 year stint has been characterised by unexplained murder and extrajudicial killings....even stretching to murders occuring 6 days to elections involving a key IEBC official, and Uhuru would only find it important to give a rather detached statement 24 hours later. That is the Uhuru that I cannot vote back if I were to vote. For now, my moral, spiritual and material support is with NASA. Before my fellow athamaki or agikuyu curse me as a sell out, I want a very LOGICAL reason why you think Raila Odinga should not be elected president. I repeat a very LOGICAL reason...please spare me the old TRIBAL Rhetoric..I won't answer.
The Uhuru bit is mostly true...however, trying to shove Rails down our throats Will not work. Come on boss, didn't he admit to have participation in the 1982 coup attempt? Doesn't he not only protect corrupt governors but collects "rent" from them as well? Would you like me to continue?
Hehehehe it's yr right to support who u want.Thisguyz r supporting the only king of Africa who have build roads, railway, cheap unga, free maternity, huduma centres, kids laptops n so on.If ur supporting Rao who have brot 82,07/08 killings kazi kwa vijana, molasses stealing all this n more then support him but talking trash about those supporting Uhuruto is bullcrap.Wasee in 6days let the best man win.Kenya will b there whoever wins.So tuache hii maunjinga na umama umatusi mwingi for nothing.
Not everybody in the Diaspora is supporting Uhuruto. I don't.
Why is the diaspora focused on the two horses. There is a diasporan on the ballot. Why not support your fellow diasporan.
I am a Kenyan in diaspora and don't support the re-election -of Ruto and Uhuru. They had over four years to leave their legacy in Kenya.
They have already ruined the lives of so many Kenyans with their mega corrupt projects.
One term in office ( Mandela's legacy) is enough. Already our country is one of the top ten most corrupt nations of the world. If accidentally they are re-elected, they will make Kenya the most corrupt nation in the world.
