US-based scholar Dr. Vincent Kandagor Chesire, of Knoxville, Tennessee has passed on in Kenya after he was involved in a flash flood accident in Marigat, Baringo County.

Until his demise, he was been part of a team Scholars planning to establish the Diaspora University, which is part of the Kenya University Project (KUP).

“I’m saddened by the demise of a great man. I was happy to have come to know him as we worked on the founding of Diaspora University.” he said.
Chesire, a specialist in the field of Energy Engineering, was expected to start the Energy Engineering program at the Diaspora University.
Prof. Jerono Rotich of Greensboro, NC mourned Chesire as a believer in education, who always gave back to his country, Kenya.
“We are still in shock! Dr. Chesire accepted to serve our community as a vocal member and most recently as Vice Chairman of Gotabgaa family fund and is credited together with benevolent leadership for getting it off the ground. He is also a known vocal member of our community always speaking up against and for what he believed. We have lost a brother, a father, a scholar and a brave leader and member of our Gotabgaa Community. We mourn his passing and request your prayers and support.”
“My family and his family have shared meals in my house when he would visit with his children. He was a great man. We shall miss him.” Rose Githinji of Knoxville, TN said.

Hospitals in Kenya are not good enough for you,or is this just another way to fleece Kenyans in the disapora.Kwani when your relatives are sick where do they go to be treated? Some of you were born at home with the help of midwives leave alone doctors now that you have been abroad you are too good to be true at local Kenyan hospital while you are on vacation "back home"Really kujipandisha na kujigamba vacation in a developed nation instead. When it is your time to go the sophistication of the hospital or the doctor WILL NOT matter.Sikio la kufa haliskii dawa.Africa and Kenya in particular needs to develop from within this thing of going abroad and then coming back to look down on your country is a waste of time.Eti develop a hospital equivalent to the one in the US to serve diaspora really.Just another scam.
Somebody died here! Take your anger to another page. This is the problem in Kenya. Anything is used as a pretext to talk badly! Shame on you n may Dr Chesire rest in peace!
This is about sorrow and mourning the lose of life! Who is this guest who does not understand etiquette? Your comments are inappropriate and completely irrelevant.
Pole to the Kandagor family. May the Lord be your strong support in this difficult moment.
Rest in peace Dr. Chesire. To my understanding this was for a good cause. If you do anything good or better than what many people are limited to, you will always be battered with words beyond belief. Yes we have hospitals in kenya, but how many times have I heard people going for treatment and after consulting with a doctor, they can never be treated. The doctor wants his charges paid upfront, let's meet in the examination room, labs ordered and every single department wants it's share and yet you've got no diagnosis.
If the hospital is going to be equipped and operated to treat patients first then follow with a hospital bill, I think it passes the test.
@Guest that's a very good point.Yes our hospitals have some issues but as u said yako ikifika ur gone whether u have kids, kcse cert, phd or just high sch diploma. How many of our leaders died huko uk n USA for ati better treatment instead of this idiots who call themselves leaders invest in our healthcare!!!I hope Uhuru can cancel the medical cover given to this stupid leaders so they can concentrate in our healthcare?!When I lived in USA sodom n gormolla for 8 yrs we buried like 8pple yes n they were bin treated in this majuu diasporas lies to them it's safe when it comes to getting treated??Anyway pole to the family.
Poleni sana
RIP Dr. Chesire. Seems like someone is trying to market the KUP project which I personally think of as lacking.
