A Kenyan man was on Monday charged in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with being in possession of an illegal firearm, which witnesses said he uses to threaten passers-by on Saturday.
Kevin Oscar Naholi, 40-year-old, on Monday appeared before U.S. District Court and was charged with being in possession a rifle. He was also found to be an undocumented immigrant.
Witnesses who spoke to Cedar Rapids police said that Naholi threatened people outside his house, 1607 11th Ave. SW, while holding a long gun.
The court ordered his detention without bond, pending grand jury indictment.
A charge sheet said that officers arrived at his house at about 6:45 p.m on Saturday ordered Naholi to come out of the house but he declined. He instead sent wife to talk with police.
Attempts by police to use his wife and son to lure him out of the house bore no fruits. It took over 11 hours until about 4:30 a.m. Sunday for Cedar Rapids Police Special Response Unit to forcefully access the house and eject him, the affidavit shows.
After carrying out a search in the house with the approval of Naholi’s wife, they found a .22 caliber Winchester rifle.
Court records show Naholi lawfully entered the United States in 2003 using a student visa but it was withdrawn in 2004 after he failed to enroll in school.
He was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and placed in removal proceedings. The proceedings were terminated in 2016 after Naholi committed to pursue becoming a naturalized citizen. The removal proceeding were again started in June this year.
If found guilty, Naholi could be handed a 10 year jail term.

OMERA. You're Mungiki Madness at your best; and Ranting like a 4th Grade.
How can he be undocumented yet he was pursuing to be a naturalized citizen, you have to have a green card first before you go to the next level of being naturalized but anyway he will serve the term in Arizona for being stupid
The man is crazy. Why would the wife allow the cops to search the house if she knew there was a gun in the house.Seems like a domestic quarrel .Airing your dirty laundry in public is never a good idea
I don't get why we resort to name calling when someone is down. Clearly this guy had deep seated issues. Ma paper is the bane of many people's mental health challenges. He is lucky the cops did not shoot him as sometimes they are only too happy to oblige a seemingly resistant "black man". Wishing him well. Their are no winners to such tragedies, for he has a mum, perhaps a dad, wife and child at the mercy of his actions.
Spot on Sukari. Well said.
oooo.
Maybe Naholi is a member of muuaji Raila's killer militia-IHII IN BLACK who thought Cedar Rapid city is Kibera where the devil(Raila) operates with impunity.Utanjuta Nyang'au hii
