President Uhuru Kenyatta is scheduled to make the maiden Kenya Airways direct flight from Nairobi to New York in October.
Kenya Airways on Monday issued a dummy ticket to the president, and the Jubilee Party Party later posted the ticket on its official twitter account.
“President @UKenyatta’s ticket on the very first and very historic flight from Nairobi to New York City is out”,” read the posting on Twitter.
The first direct flight from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is scheduled for October 28th, and Kenya Airways has reportedly already secured a landing slot at JFK.
The airline will run two trips daily on a Dreamliner aircraft; one flight that departs JKIA at 10:25pm and arrives at JFK at 6:25am the following morning, and a return flight that departs JFK at 12:25pm and arrives in Nairobi at 9:55am the following morning.
Roundtrip tickets are currently on sale at $869 for the economy class.

@ G2, why are you worried with what Uhuru does. Worry about yourself and your family. Kenya Airways is not a government properties so talking about taxes payers money into this shows how un informed you are, and FYI this direct flight thing is a breakthrough not only for Kenyans but for Africa since a lot of Africans nations highly esteem Kenya and a lot of people will be flying in from there country so they can use Kenya Airways. If i were you i would be thinking of ways to benefits from such an opportunity. Constructs some nice state os the art Hotels for all the people who will be either spending a night in Kenya and some tours and travel offices etc instead of whining like a sissy.
This are the people who owns Kenya Airways my friend.....
Under the Optimisation Plan, the Government tops the national carrier’s shareholding followed by KQ Lenders Company Ltd while KLM drops to third position in ownership. KQ Lenders Company, which comprises 11 banks that converted their loans into equity, will control 35.69 per cent shareholding of the national carrier, with an allocation of 10.7 billion shares. KLM will see its shareholding fall from 26.73 per cent to 13.71 per cent, while the State’s stake in the cash-strapped airline has inreased from 29.8 per cent to 46.53 per cent.
OMERA. Stop your Mediocre Double Standards "Worry about Yourself and Your Family too (and Leave RAILA Alone).
Why do you have to bring politics to everything that happen In Kenya idiot
G2. Watch these Words: "Because Uhuru is the Epitome of Corruption and RIGGING in Kenya, his flying KQ on that day will be the Commencement of Another KQ Collapse." Him and his Corrupt and RIGGING Cartels will RIG out KQ of its Money (leaving it Flying High and DRY).
This is what I consider positive news. Where I live in the states, this flight will not make sense to me but I give credit where it's due. The tendency to capitalize on people's tragedy will invite pity but what is the long term benefit to the afflicted or the country in general?
As for me, I now have a good excuse to visit NY on my way to Nairobi. The naysayers can keep talking: I will enjoy my one connection flight home.
This Direct Flight is only good for those people living in East Coast of United States near the Atlantic Ocean. For us that lives in West Coast near Pacific Ocean areas, it makes no difference. The distance will be about the same as connecting from West coast to Europe or West coast to Dubai.
Uhuru's body language says aaaah....otherwise..... me thinks we will not see him on that day.
Will he be accompanied by the sidelined Ruto? Will he pay for the ticket himself just like everybody else or we the taxpayer's have to pay for him including his entourage? Just asking.
