President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to break the tradition by not meeting Kenyans in the diaspora during his trip to the United States.
Kenyatta landed in Washington, DC on Saturday afternoon and was received by Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary ambassador Monica Juma, Kenya's ambassador to America Robinson Githae and top US government officials ahead of his meeting with Donald Trump at the White House on Monday.
Speaking to Daily Nation, ambassador Githae said the President will not have an interactive session with Kenyans living in the US due to his busy schedule.
“The president will only be around for one or maybe one and half days and most of that time will be taken up by his meeting with his counter-part, President Donald Trump at the White House” Githae said.
“The president expresses his regrets. He would have loved to meet with Kenyans because that is one his best moments whenever he visits abroad,” Githae added.
This will be a break away from the President's normal tradition of uniting with Kenyans abroad whenever he makes visits to foreign countries especially in the US and UK.
“I’m very disappointed that the President will not be meeting with us. I was looking forward to it. I had planned to ask him a question about the handshake but, anyway, I understand he will be on a busy schedule,” Anthony Muhuna, a Kenyan living in Annapolis, Maryland told Daily Nation.
On what President Kenyatta will discuss with Trump, the envoy said: “The two leaders will hold talks on a variety of subjects among them trade and regional security, tourism and economy. The meeting will go a long way in broadening the special and historic relationship that exists between Kenya and the US. We are very excited about this and we look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship between the two countries."
“As you may be aware, America has overtaken Britain in the number of tourists visiting Kenya and with improved security and political stability that now obtains in the country following the handshake, we expect this number to double or even triple in the coming days, months and years,” added Githae.

Blame it on those CORRUPT lobbyists (low-Beasts) in DC. All they do is sell Kenya as a Beutiful country (with Notbing to show off Except Animals in the Parks).
Ha ha ha ha, now that is funny - low beasts.
The funny thing about Kenya government is it thinks:
The world owes Kenya. Americans and the West does not owe Kenya anything.
1. Kenya has failed to implement its own constitution.Yes, implementation of the constitution ends Uhuru Kenyatta's illegitimate presidency and stops impunity.
Uhuru Kenyatta should have resigned if he was a true kenyan patriot. But he lied to international community and so he has to force himself on a country that has rejected him and now just hates him.
2. China is just colonizing countries all over the world with its loans. The problem with Kikuyu's is they think they are the only people who know how to do 'Business'.
3. Enough of my rant.
Kenyans in America are not interested in meeting the despots. Githae should stop with his foolish statements.
I was agreeing with you until you brought out tribalism of kikuyus think, kikuyus that, then everything you said just suddenly turned sour and you are no better than the Govt you are condemning .
Try to think outside the tribe. Kikuyus are good people, Luos are very good, Kambas are great, and you are a good person.
Na kwani it is a private visit. All photos show lots of Kenyans and no one else. There was no one from the host country to receive him compared to to The Nigerian President who had representatives from WH and SD. Anyway tusker badala ya kazi will have a short meeting with Drumpf who will remind him that he is a shit hole president.
Uhuru Kenyatta should go back to kenya where he thinks impunity is a sign of intelligence.
RIP John Mc Cain.A man who loved his country.
