The family of a Kenyan woman spotted wandering in the streets in Saudi Arabia has appealed to the government to help her return to the country.
The family says they are worried about Everlyne Saliku Onamu, 40, after she was photographed in the streets in Saudi Arabia.
The family from Eshiru in Lurambi, Kakamega County says they learned about her situation after her photos surfaced on social media.
“We recently learned that my sister was in big trouble when photos showing her wandering in Saudi Arabia went viral on social media, she looked fatigued, dirty, weak and lost,” says her sister Irene Onamu.
Everlyne traveled to the Middle East country in 2015 in search of greener pastures.
“She was excited about the prospects of landing a job, which could enable her to support her children," says Irene, adding that she secured the job with the help of a Nairobi-based recruitment agency.
Irene says they did not hear much from her ever since she left the country and efforts to reach the hiring agency were fruitless.
The family has been seeking information about her in the past few years to no avail, until recently when her photos were shared online.
Irene says they have learned their kin lost her job and may be suffering from a mental illness after she was kicked out by her employer without pay.

There’s something wrong with this country. How come when people move to the West to seek for greener pastures, they are treated like humans but not so in some of this Muslim countries?
Hii deal ya kupeleka wakenya into modern day slavery ilianza na Jubilee 2015. They have failed to secure the rights of Kenyans is the Arab countries. The experiences our fellow Kenyan brothers and sisters are going through is harrowing. It is HELL! Hawa waarabu wanafanyia hawa wakenya/waafrika vituko sio watu! Ni mashetani! The family will always step in but what will this lady become, a burden! Do we have systems in plave to help alleviate that, NO! Her physical and mental status is ruined forever. And look at what age-group she belongs to. The Kenyan government is readily sacrificing it's youth, waende wapotelee na wakufie huko. Smh! Yet someone somewhere got money for each Kenyan out there, the Ministry of foreign Affairs remains to be a toothless dog, Kenyan officials in a position to help pretend to be clueless and money keeps changing hand. Ndio hiyo Jubilee yenu! Ile radi itawagonga, bado inafanya press-ups! Nkt
My recollection is 1992, and not 2015, when teachers were getting jobs in Seychelles. I still prefer a system that allows one to work anywhere, despite this case. I have no recollection of a Kenyan being taken to work in other countries, we voluntarily seek the employment. I would not support a system that controls movement of its people.
Amina Mohammed should be held Culprit for selling Kenyans (Josephines) to her Siblings (the Ishmalites aka Arabs).
What about our Kenyan embassy in Saudi, can't they step in and help our sister? Besides, she is there because our country has failed. If she could go all the way to Saudi Arabia in search of work to feed her children, she could have gladly worked right here at home but there are no jobs! Billions of shillings, land and natural resources that could have developed our country have been looted out and hidden in foreign banks by our corrupt leaders and elites: Raila, Ruto, Kindero, Ojaamong, Waiguru, cabinet secretaries, judges, lawyers etc. Our country is full of mindless, greedy immoral thieving politicians and civil servants. Remember: Anglo-leasing, Goldberg scandal (Mudavadi), Kazi Kwa vijana (Raila) Maize scandal (Ruto), Euro-bonds (Uhuru), Kisumu molasses (Raila), contaminated maize, sugar, rice and fish from China-that's why our own wananchi are wondering helplessly in the desert looking for food. Do you remember that these same Arabs took our people into slavery back in the day? Well, they're still using our people as slaves under the guise of jobs. Our government should pick up this lady pronto and apologize to her, her family and the country. What a shame!!
Well, that is what happens when a country is led by washenzi who are only out to benefit themselves. The masses do not understand their basic rights despite high levels of literacy compared to other African countries. We lack statesmen, role models and fiduciaries.
People going to these Arab countries particularly ought to be educated on their rights and responsibilities and emergency contacts should be in place as well as emergency funds before securing visas. This government does not care and has never cared for young people and that is why NYS and "kazi kwa vijana" scandals exist.
Hao waarabu mnaendaga kwao are the same mfkrs who were used by wazungu kushika wakenya kutoka bara na kuwapeleka kule fort jesus na kuwauza kama buzi utumwani, halafu mnazidi kuwakimbilia ati baina ya kazi. When are you people going to wake up. To these arabs you are still chattel.
How come the family cannot get answers. With what has been going on in Saudi as it concerns Kenyan there Iwould think that communication, and contacts between families, employers, and the two governments have improved. With today's technology,it should not take days to respond to aquestion such as,"where is Jane Doe"She did not cross borders without proper documentation.
Here is the "State of the Nation". The state of the nation is best displayed by the state of the lowest and the weakest of that nation. That is the correct and best measure. Kenya talks of the remittances from the diaspora, let us also talk about the human sacrifice that comes with it.( At what cost are we sacrificing our people and human resources?)
Let the ministry of foreign affairs in the country take care of business or has it also taken bribes to look the other way. What part is the so called "Handshake" playing in this? The lady is from Kakamega. Where is Raila to talk about this suffering of Kenyans? What do our leaders and MPIG's think about when the havoc they have created in their countries is on display. This is really the "State of our Nation".
Uhunye would say; "munataka nifanye nini??"
Hebu mwone mkristo Ruto. Tapeli huyu ana helikopta nne. Ndugu Kanoti na Haji mko wapi? n
Nawaombeni mmwwite Ruto na kumuuliza jinsi alivyotajirika haraka hivyo.
Kunradhi!
Sorry for this lady??Many n i say many of us r so brainwashed n act desperate that u MUST leave your country to succeed or to make it in life which is hogwash???Many do not care to read the application they r signing juu again all they care about is am flying abroad my Ass!!!why pay 200,000 ksh to the agent when u can use that cash to start a biz or farming n u can b a millionaire if ur determined!!Small story!!!04 i landed in usa n after 3 years my freds kept telling me i bring my small sis who was 21 then to state!I refused coz i had leaves there n i knew which kind of life it is.I bot her 40 fit container then n opened a hardware for her with 170,000ksh today as we speak she is 32years with 3 kids n has 3 biggest hardware stores around kitengela, syokimau, ngong with about 2,24 wheelers n 3 canters??Am notshowing off but i saw opportunities in kenya than in the usa.So watu wetu think twice b4 thinking of either moving to usa/uk,australia n especially those muslim countries??Heri ukufie kenya than to go to some countries??How many men/women in the usa or uk who left their kids 5/10/15 years back home never to return because of stupid excuses money greed??So the west pia kuna mashinda hio ya papers.I have always insisted it's about life choices we make n ur the only to blame.Yes we can blame the gava but u paid yr ticket yourself n took yourself voluntarily in that country of yr choice so get yr life together.
The kenyan embassy in Dubai or where she is assuming it even exists should send one of their own to go get her as she appears confused in the picture. It is sheer luck they found her through photos.Lets hope she is still alive.Do not say it is not their responsibility they are suppose to step in in situations like these .
Arabs instead of developing Science and Technology with the wealth generated by the petrodollar, they engage in incessant fracticide; killing each other in the name of allah and sponsoring terrorism all over the world while subjugating their women while the West continues to develop new technologies day after day. Therefore it’s no wonder, they see Africans moving to their countries not as equal human beings but as slaves.
Does the family understand that unless she voluntarily offer to return to Kenya, the GOK cannot help. Someone should advice them to seek assistance from the Saudi Embassy in NBO. The embassy can request the Saudi Cops to get her off the street, and return her to the family.
