US citizen Bruce Pritchett has appealed to well-wishers to sign his petition to President Donald Trump after his efforts to legalize his Kenyan wife’s status was rejected by Immigration authorities.
Bruce's wife, Salome Pritchett, is facing deportation after the US Citizen and Immigration Service (USCIS) denied her a green card for allegedly “marrying a white man.”
The two got married in 2015 and have a three-year-old son together.
In his petition, Bruce narrates how the immigration authorities frustrated Salome's bid to get a green card.
Here is his petition:
"My name is Bruce Pritchett, a US citizen by birth in the State of Missouri, I got married to my wife Salome Pritchett a Kenyan citizen on August 8, 2015 in Missouri. My wife has been legally living in the United States for 7 years. She’s hardworking and pays Taxes in this country. We have a 3 yr old son together, who was born in Illinois. We filed a petition to help my wife Salome to adjust her legal status through marriage and get her a green card, in May 2017. We had an immigration interview in December 2017. During the interview the immigration officer asked my wife why she “married a white man”, which to me that’s racial profiling, violation of human rights to marry and discrimination.
She also demanded my wife to “revoke her then legal status” without telling us if she approved the green card or not. Her questions and demands to revoke my wife’s then legal status before approval of her green card made us including our lawyer very suspicious of her intentions.
Our lawyer advised my wife not to revoke her legal status because that would make her illegal in United States if the officer doesn’t grant the green card on the spot. Therefore, leaving my wife vulnerable for deportation, and I could not let that happen. Following the advice of our lawyer not to revoke my wife’s legal status the officer sent us home promising that all she needed was a signature from her boss to send us the approval notice of my wife’s green card in 7 days, but it never happened.
Together with our lawyers, we spent the whole year of 2018 following-up and requesting the US Citizenship and Immigration Services to send us the promised approval notice in vain. Our lawyers did everything possible to get them wrap up my petition and give my wife a green card but all fell on deaf years of U.S Immigration Services. In March 2019 our lawyers advised us to sue the USCIS in St. Louis, Missouri to stop the delay of our petition and grant the green card. They got mad and sent a notice of Intent to Revoke the approved petition that they approved back in 2017 and never sent the approval form to us.They gave us 30 days to send more documentation to prove that my wife was free to marry me, which we did. We even got the Certificate of No Impediment to marriage from Kenya, my wife’s country of origin, stating that my wife is free to marry me and other documentation required to prove our marriage is legal, including copy of Kenyan laws Marriage Act. Which this immigration officer said that the “Kenyan marriage laws are not in place”.
Although the Officer acknowledges that my wife’s “Family Ties In The United States Are Positive Factors” She went ahead to deny my petition for my wife’s green card.
I demand immigration Justice for my wife, because the USCIS did not even take time to review all the legal documents they asked for to prove my marriage to Salome is legal. Our lawyers said this immigration officer is not following the law concerning our case. That means, she’s only out to destroy families and deport people for no reason. We have less than 30 days file an appeal against this unfair and injustices of USCIS. Which is very expensive.
I have a 3 yrs old son who needs his mother and I need my Loving wife close to me. We love each other, and we both love our son to death. We take our marriage vows very seriously and nobody will separate us."

Justice for all.
total bullshit!! nobody gets denied green card for marrying a white man, there is more to the story than they are telling, you can appeal most of these decisions in front of a judge and marrying a white man would not prevail so i smell something fishy here,, sisi si kondoo
I agree with you. Something is not right.
Marrying any man of any country..wife legally became the citizen of that particular country but submit all the legal papers must
I know this lady. This a genuine marriage and relationship. Obviously they are racists people at ICE and in this era of Trump these people feel emboldened to act out their racist views. Obviously this couple will prevail as the law is on their side.
Shut up! We are in the era of Trumpmadness where immigrants are no longer welcome in the United States. Trump has given a clear instruction that no immigrant is wanted regardless of their reasons to live in the U.S.
BS. I am a white guy from Missouri, just like the guy in the article. I married an Afghan citizen in 2017. She just got her green card 2 months ago. Other than the whole.process taking a year and a half there was no issue what so ever getting her in the country.
Exactly people from countries all over the world come to the U.S for marriage. There's definitely more to the story.
That something fishy is nothing but racism.Who says we don't have racists working at USCIS?Please stop jumping to the racist defence like that
There's more to her story, maybe she over stay her Visa.
There's more to her story, maybe she over stay her Visa.
Um, I'm white and I married a Kenyan woman and my wife's green card was waiting in the mail box before she even got here. There's definately more to this story.
I guess you have not been to the Midwest
Hehehehe at first mr bruce that kenyan wife got interested if you juu ur a us citizen who could have given her papers. It was not love my white man it was papers n many of Africans have gone on that route even having kids out of love but greedy of papers which is big shame.Mr bruce tell yr kenyan wife to move back to kenya n leave there if it was for love juu amenyimwa usa papers so deportation shouldn't b life n death aslong as u will follow her here in kenya??Hii makaratasi imefanya wengi kupoteza their dignity, respect upto even their bodies being abused n prostitued by pple selling them papers??Its beta i die with my dignity principles n respect for my body than to go thru hell which 98% of the pple who buy/marry into false marriages go thru juu ya hii papers.Thats my take n u don't have to like it!
You are talking trash here sir/madam.you are a pure racist do you mean to say all the years this man have wasted is just for fantasy?you guys should be serious even for once.
You are a very bitter person. You just want her to be sent back to Kenya because you wish you were in the US too.
I smell envy and jealousy throughout your write up. She's black and from the same country as you yet you just have to be against her. Shame on you. mtcheweeeee goat
You sound bitter
You are such a moron. Idiots like you would have said the same shit in swahili about Obama parents. Why do you hate interracial marriages? Looks like you have an inferiority complex.

You seem to hate people in the diapsora. Why is that?. They remit clean 25bil shillings to Kenya to save your lives and Kenya. A good portion of you only rely on stealing from your own government. Kindly quit this demented mindset about those in the diaspora. It is not easy to live out here.
This lady has 3 children, all for papers??. Think, act smart, talk sense and grow up. Get some bible and read.
One of the principles and tradition of the United States is to protect family and not to separate them by guessing or by any personal instant to forfeit them of their rights to benefit whatever legal status they want to pursue in as much as they duely follow the law. And therefore, my friend, you assertion you made about the couple is ill-thought and childish.
The number one enemy of an African is an African.
Your comment has proven this saying to be true.
Mkenya Halisi,
You are truly someone filled with hate for brandishing a woman with a child who having gone through 7yrs of marraige as being fraudulent because she sought for legal status to provide for herself and her family.
You are also casting shades at all Africans with similar stories who may have married outside of their native country or race for legitimate and innocent reasons. Wherever you are, life goes on and happens...legal benefits or not. "Papers"? It is never a primary reason to have kids or be in love with someone. Yes, there are bad instances, but take a break and stop being a judge and jury over facts that you are unaware of. Pulling your fellow African/woman down is not right.
Was your mother and father in Kenya got you as their child in Kenya because of what needing papers in Kenya?
Your comments are insulting to those two couples let alone the 3 years old child whom his parents are being told that are married for not right reason of love .
People like you are the one discriminating other based on their tribe or religion
I wonder why tribalism still exists in Kenya and you're the seed of that problem
Sometimes this talk is all out of jealousy. Why write a whole page lecturing on why kenyans marry white people. It is really none of your business whatever reason they do it for. Whether honestly or otherwise, it is their own business. You keep your morals but stop the lecturing. Let justice be done to this Wife and mother to live with her family.
You are really bitter, are they mistreating you huko uarabuni? Did u get deported from Us? Did your papers fail?
Do you envi neighbor, sister, brother, friend, etc Who you feel is not supporting u from US, if u are in US is ur life F'd up! At least one of the above applies to u I'm 💯 sure. Who abused u, keep it real Mkenya Halisi?
See the bitter Lucifer, why you people hate interracial marriage soo much, I know of many people who are married to white people for real, you must be a Kenyan bitter man whose EX left you for a white man. I feel bad coz my sister wants a white man not because of papers but she just wanna get married to a white man even if it means living in kenya with him, and I respect her decisions and pray that she will get one soon.

I bet your Mom and dad didn't marry for love but they still had you morron.
She could have found a good black man. Am sure this man's people do don't need her in their circles and have continuously shown her that love for white zaddy is not the solution to black economic state.
The need for white acceptance and approval is part of colonialism/ slavery structure!
I'm married by a white man and I didn't get any trouble getting my green card,if you do the write thing your will get yours too,if they detect that you ever stayed, you will loose
You're a mammy bedwench. Simple as that!
Wtf..are you saying moron
Plz Susan enlighten me on how it went...l got one to but he is planning to come over...
Verbal diarrhea race card nonsense
Well, what if they are telling the truth? What if whatever happened is exactly as the man narrated. We cannot afford to be quick to judge or use blanket statements on situations you are not privy to. My take is focus on your child. You can always start a new life anywhere in the world including Kenya. If it is indeed true that USCIS treated the case unfairly then let it go. Engaging in a lengthy battle with such a giant will leave you exhausted and even more bitter and resentful. You will waste precious time that you could've spent with your wife and son. Those people handling your case are human beings like you and if they acted out of malice then God and Karma will deal with them. I don't think Trump will help out in any way. Relocate to Kenya, denounce your citizenship lol. Leave a simple yet happy life- atleast no one can ever take that away from you.
Speak with the lawyer about suing the government under the APA rather than appealing through USCIS.
What hapoens when you have complete morons idiots working in immigration. I cant believe that question was even asked. Stupid idiot should be fired. Put someone competent in that place.
Hello my name is Mrs Guillory, I read your heart touching story concerning legalization, and the person that you told your story to receive a green card, I believe in marriage and I believe that God intended for you and your loved ones to be together if you followed the legal protocol,President Trump love this country and he has every right to protect the American Citizen's, God knows our hearts.

Mama Yooooooo!
Why did the USCIS specifically ask 'if she was free to marry". Watu wangu, mjue hawa watu wa Elcheeto wakisema they will check your shosho media, trust it, they are twisted enough to do it. They will focus on small small moles where the races of people they hate (minorities) reside and ignore the mountains inhabited by whitey! That is how they roll.
Reminds me of aKenyan lady who was returned at O'hare and she went on and on about racism blablabla. True, racism is part of it because they focus on small mistakes done by Kenyans and ignore Russians and Chinese pouring in. But even the fuckin racists know that they must have a reason to deny, however fickle. I should know, I was a victim of their racist nit-picking. That is what most likely happened here "racist nit-picking" Did she say "hi honey" to some random dude back in Kenya in that period? Or a dude back home jokingly called her "wifey" like they randomly do? I hope it works out for them. Wapi petition we sign...kwani America ni yao! Kumbaff.
Dear The Queen Haselefu, there is no such thing like "...Russians and Chinese pouring in." Russians and Chinese are in the same position like Nigerians. Not in better position. It is extremely difficult to get just US Visa for them sometimes. I understand that a grass is always greener on the other side but your statement is not correct. On the other hand there is Mexican border and yes you can say that ppl from South America are pouring in. There is a huge chance they will get some legal status I think. Later probably citizenship too. I don't have anything against them I understand why they are coming to the USA but I kinda feel it's not fair to the rest of the world. I feel sad that you experienced racism but there are always good ppl and bad ppl. Good ppl of any race should be together especially there are more good people than bad ones. "Divide and rule" is still in place and being used to benefits of so- called (or self-called?) "elite" any race and color. Division nowadays are embedding in many directions. Between races, between sexes, between parents and children etc. You are looking in wrong direction. It is hard to fight against that because "elite" targeting our emotions. Have a good one! :)
why mess up our countries in the first place, america and other nations have a right to restrict migrations to their countries as they wish for any reasons, you dont see americans flocking to mexico to live there, neither europeans drowning in Mediterranean looking for greener pasture in africa, something wrong with us as a people, we want to go to a country that was developed by others instead of developing ours
This story breaks my heart!I can relate .I feel bad for you after reading all the negative comments from your fellow Kenyans!
I wish u and ur family luck.whatever you do please fight for your rights.I am looking for the petitions will sign and encourage everyone I know to do so if it’s not too late.I am praying for you ,your husband and your child.Good luck
This is a sad state of affairs. This issues are quite common in the US. Always linked to racism and bigotry. I do hope, the lovely couple and their son get justice. Trump will be of no assistance, his chief custodian of such bigotry.
Let's pray reason and fairness win through the court system, if suing is the last line of defense.

Seems like there is more to the story because of the lack of specific visa information (h1b?) and the seemingly irrelevant requirement for the visa holder (not the government?) to “revoke your legal status” (h1b?) while applying for an adjustment of status.
Susan elaborate more on your point plz
No Sir it is not because you are White, something else. My wife was White my green card was delayed cause of my criminal conviction not because she is White so......
You're a plantation stud period.
I don't really believe in this story immigration don't care about who u marry or wherever u are from .immigration in united state can be very crazy with any one application but they don't base it on color or anything.
The story is not as far fetched as it sounds. Tge interview took place in St. Louis. The city is arpund 56% african american. The immigration official was a female. Based on reading his story i could tell you about 95% certainty that the immigration official was a black woman. Black women can be quite sassy and blatantly racist at times much more so than african american men. Why? Because they know they can get away with it. Who would accuse a black woman of racism? Where i work, in a government building i heard tge deputy director of human resources (black woman) say you can't trust white people. When people complained nothing happened to her. The question the immigration official asked was inappropriate at best. Connect the dots. This common is frequently heard where i live because there a bunch of black women married to white men here. I am one them.
This made me laugh the way you have explained it, I'm starting to think that maybe the immigration officer was indeed black after all.
You could be right...all friends I know who had nasty experiences were handled by black women, AAs. For example my first entry to attend school, I was welcomed very well by a nice white gentleman. My classmate also from Kenya arrived a day later and met this woman in detroit who had all her bags opened and items checked one by one! Yoh! Mine were not even unzipped. Perhaps I have been lucky in that respect; one time I got a mzungu married to a Tanzanian to interview. Sema homerun...zero drama. There is God. And I pray this: confuse and kill my enemies (David's prayer) I did not start it. May this family prevail. It is not wrong for them to pursue their happiness.
I don't think the USCIS is above the law! It seems the wife had previous “permanent bar of inadmissibility” found in section 212(a)(9)(C)(i)(I) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).Whether you Marry a US. Present, you are not whatsoever circumstance legible for any immigration benefits including green card! Lets not charge! There must be an issue!
Maneno magumu. I cannot begin to imagine their devastation. I hope things work out for this family. Deportation na she has a young child... Heart wrenching!
People people people!!! Keep quiet. Y'all don't know what you are talking about. People can face similar situations but handled differently. Just because yours went through successful doesn't mean that the other is a sinner. Whichever way God knows the truth, but please have sympathy with the family. All I can see is just y"all reacting to a situation. Remember, when not caught in a situation you've got all advices to offer; What u should have done and what u shouldn't but if it were u caught in it you wouldn't even know what to do. Sorry I shouldn't have written this for sure but please be emphatetic not scolding others on what you don't know. Don't condemn because you are not judges and even judges too do make mistakes.
And to the couple keep on praying, God will come your way. Everything in life has a reason and a better reason before God. God cannot give you what you can't handle, nor can He lead you to where you can't manage, just trust and seek Him for His glory. May the light of God lead you as you seek Him. Thank you
