Allan Moseti, hailing from Bidii in Kwanza Constituency, embarked on a journey to Germany at the age of 20 in search of new prospects.
However, his time abroad was not merely for personal advancement as he held a deep-seated desire to effect positive change in his hometown. In an interview from his residence in Germany, Moseti shares his concerns about the inadequate medical equipment and high healthcare costs in Kenya. His memories of the pre-devolution era, characterized by scarce resources and limited Constituency Development Fund capacity, fueled his determination to make a difference. After two decades in Germany, Moseti returned to Kenya with his family intent on empowering his community.
Their initial efforts focused on supporting local sports clubs by providing uniforms and equipment. As word of their generosity spread, more teams sought their assistance, expanding their sphere of influence. Moseti's commitment to improving healthcare access in his community is evident in his recent donation to Bidii Health Centre. He has contributed five hydraulic electric beds valued at Sh 1 million, significantly enhancing the facility's patient care capacity. Moreover, Moseti has taken steps to ensure broader access to healthcare by initiating National Hospital Insurance Fund registration for nearly a hundred boda boda riders.
His wife, Annett Densing, shares Moseti's passion for community service. She emphasized that their support stems from their personal income. Densing also acknowledges the county government's efforts in the health sector, recognizing the importance of collaborative approaches to community development. The couple's impact extends beyond individual acts of kindness. They have established over 30 community-based organizations, providing leadership training and facilitating income-generating activities. Their vision encompasses collaboration with like-minded individuals, particularly in health and infrastructure to uplift local residents.
Moseti's compassion is further illustrated by his willingness to assist in times of crisis. Ken Njambi, a resident near Kitale town, recounts how Moseti stepped in to facilitate a relative's referral to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret when local leaders were unable to provide necessary support. Despite his positive impact, Moseti faces criticism from some politicians who perceive his growing popularity as a threat. However, he remains steadfast in his mission to create lasting change in his community.
