American rapper, Sidney Royel Selby III, better known by his stage name Desiigner, was forced to cut short his performance at a concert in Nairobi over the weekend after his shoes were stolen.
The singer performed at the Jameson Connect concert held at the Water Front Mall in Karen, alongside Sudanese-American rapper Bas and British singer Stefflon Don.
However, when the "Panda" hit maker attempted to crowd-surf, a move where musicians jump into the crowd at the climax of their performance, someone got the opportunity to steal his expensive sneakers.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, the singer pauses his performance to request security men to recover his shoes. There were also attempts to steal his wristwatch.
“This is not cool at all ya’ll, I came all the way from America to sing for you and someone out here is trying to take what he didn’t work for. That is not how we do things,” the rapper says.
This is not the first time celebrities have been robbed in Kenya. Popular dance hall musician Sean Paul and Nigerian singer Davido lost their phones in Kenya in 2004 and 2015

Very embarrassing, no one is safe.
No crowd surfing in Kenya, at least not in expensive sneakers. Wear nyamugas or safari boots if you have to.

We have no shortage of thieves in Kenya. Where did this culture of stealing come from. Let’s stop crowning it as corruption, it is stealing, plain and simple. All those who steal from the government should not be charged with lesser crimes. They should be charged with stealing and handling stolen property/money and put behind bars until they pay for their crimes.
Romeo23, there is no lesson to be learnt by the guy here. Our countrymen are an embarrassment! That made me cringe and if I was the guy, I would pack up and take my revenue where it is appreciated, e.g TZ. Si ungwana hata kidogo. Aibu.
Hearing from news alone one may get the impression that almost all young fellas are muggers or burglars, almost all middle-aged are robbers or conmen/conwomen, almost all 45-60 are greedy grabbers, corrupt cartels or drug barons, every 60+ is a master of state corporation scandals like NYS, NCPB, Anglo Leasing, Goldenerg, KPL, KPLC, NHIF, Mumias....
And almost all the kids, families and senior citizens are being clothed and fed from the proceeds of criminal activities and stolen monies.
Of course this is far from the truth; the truth is the majority are decent citizens; but one wonders where are the good people of this land?
By Proverbs 15:27 "The greedy bring ruin to their households, but the one who hates bribes will live".
And Timothy 6:9-10 " Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
And finally, is it not biblical that the sins of the fathers will be visited upon the children's, children's, children's, children? There is a tendency and a trend, but not an irreversible certainty. That is why kila mtu ataubeba mzigo wake mwenyewe (pale Milimani)siku yake ikifika.
This is Kenya....
