Former Starehe MP Charles Jaguar has shared a personal story about a time in his life when he harboured dreams of a better future fueled by the possibility of obtaining a US visa.
In an interview on Kameme FM, Jaguar shares the story of his bold venture to the United States which took an unforeseen turn. Recalling the start of his quest, Jaguar discloses that his dreams were sparked by the desire to secure a US visa. With the assistance of a distant relative, he successfully obtained the necessary paperwork, propelling him towards what he believed would be an extraordinary journey.
He recalls having a distant relative who assisted him in securing a visa for the United States. He informed him that he would be departing for the US the following week. At that time, relocating to the US was considered a significant accomplishment, and to add to the excitement, his relative generously lent him his Mercedes. Fueled by his determination, he wasted no time in selling all his possessions upon receiving the visa. Jaguar eagerly shared the news with everyone, going as far as giving his father his car. However, as he embarked on this journey, unexpected obstacles crossed his path.
Upon reaching the airport, he received instructions to declare his possessions but he faced difficulty in sharing crucial details upon request. He had carried five bags containing assorted items intended for distribution upon arrival in the US. However, upon disembarking, the singer has been singled out along with his bags. Immigration officers interrogated him regarding his intended destination, but he didn't have the details of the person who had invited him.
Jaguar shares his unexpected encounter with immigration officers during the deportation process, choosing to recount the experience with a touch of humour. The officers expressed concern when they saw the sentimental photos he carried and the numerous suitcases he had packed, suggesting that he didn't plan on returning. He clarified that he brought along the pictures of his girlfriends to keep them in mind during his time away. Unfortunately, Jaguar's aspiration to stay in the United States was abruptly halted, leading to his deportation back to Kenya.
