Cape Media, the company behind TV 47 and Radio 47, has secured a government deal to broadcast a new talent show called "WhozNext."
Set to debut soon, the program aims to provide a platform for emerging artists in Kenya. Drawing inspiration from the popular "America's Got Talent", "WhozNext" will showcase talent in seven diverse areas. These include music, pageantry, fashion, poetry, comedy, dance, and content creation. The show seeks to uncover Kenya's next musical sensation, celebrate beauty and charisma through pageant-style challenges, and provide a stage for designers and models to exhibit their creativity.
Additionally, it will feature poets, comedians, dancers, and digital content creators. The government's backing of this initiative is evident through the involvement of Ababu Namwamba, the Cabinet Secretary of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports. By partnering with Cape Media, the government aims to replicate the success of the #TalantaHela program and further its commitment to nurturing talent. The exclusive airing of "WhozNext" on Cape Media channels, including TV 47 and Radio 47, ensures a broad audience reach across Kenya's 47 counties.
Cape Media founder and Chairperson Simon Gicharu has expressed confidence in the project's execution. The company is collaborating with Mount Kenya University to produce a world-class show that meets international standards. Cape Media's journey in the Kenyan media landscape has been marked by rapid expansion since its establishment in 2017.
The launch of TV 47 in 2019 quickly positioned it as Kenya's fastest-growing television station. Cape Media aims to dominate both the visual and auditory media landscape with the addition of Radio 47 to its portfolio. The company's strategic recruitment of industry veterans further demonstrates its determination to boost ratings and provide compelling content.
