Russia has announced the introduction of a single electronic visa for citizens of Kenya, Eswatini, and Zimbabwe.
This initiative, communicated by the Russian Embassy in Kenya on the social media platform X, seeks to simplify travel for tourists, business travellers, and participants in various events. The newly established electronic visa is valid for 60 days from the date of issuance and allows for stays of up to 16 days per visit.
This move represents a notable shift from the previous visa application process, which necessitated in-person submissions of multiple documents at Russian embassies or consulates. Under the new system, travellers can complete their visa applications entirely online, requiring only a digital photo and a scanned copy of the machine-readable page of their passport.
Applications must be submitted through the official website or mobile app of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at least four days before the intended date of entry. This digital visa process offers flexible entry and exit options through various transportation methods, including air, rail, road, and sea, and even accommodates pedestrian traffic at designated checkpoints.
The initiative reflects Russia's commitment to strengthening international ties and making it easier for Kenyans to explore business opportunities and engage in global events. For more information or to initiate the application process, interested travellers can visit the official e-visa portal at electronic-visa.kdmid.ru.
This streamlined approach promises to make visiting iconic destinations in Russia more accessible, thereby opening up new avenues for Kenyan citizens.
