Deputy President William Ruto has cautioned the opposition coalition NASA to stop using the current maize flour crisis as a campaign tool, adding that it is temporary and would end within the next few weeks.
The Jubilee Party deputy leader said that the rising prices of essential food commodities will be handled by State departments and told Opposition leaders to stop using natural calamities as campaign tools.
“We are handling the issue and the situation will normalize within the next one month, siasa za unga hazitawasaidia (Unga politics won’t help them) ” he said. “As government, we are doing our best to solve the problem within the shortest time possible. Our colleagues in the Opposition are opportunists who take advantage of such situations to mislead Kenyans that they have solutions to such problems,” added Ruto.
Ruto was addressing in Kuria residents in Migori County he commissioned 25km Motebaru- Suba Kuria-Getonganya-Masaba Road to help open up the region even as they continue onslaught in NASA strongholds ahead of the August 8 polls.
Ruto pleaded with the Kuria community to support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection bid in the August polls adding that the National Super Alliance (NASA) had nothing to offer Kenyans.
“The NASA team are sweet talkers without a tangible development plan. They have no manifesto for Kenyans. I am asking you to reject them because they are just opportunists,” he said.
“We are fulfilling the promises we made. We talked of free maternity to save mothers and children during childbirth and we are doing so. We pledged to bridge the gap between the haves and have nots and last year we said candidates will not pay examination fees,” he said.
He added: “From January next year, secondary school education will be free in public schools if you give us another chance.”
“This is why we want to plead with the people of Migori to make the right choices and vote for Jubilee come August,” he said.
