Police in three major Kenyan cities and towns namely Nakuru, Kisumu and Eldoret will be served with modern radio communication systems similar to those installed in Nairobi and Mombasa.
Chinese technology firm Huawei Technologies met with President Uhuru Kenyatta at their headquarters in Beijing on Sunday and promised to donate the equipment that will enhance Kenyan security system.
Among the expected equipment is 6 eNodeB Stations, 150 Radio Trunking Terminals and a Radio Trunking System Core Network and Dispatch System.
Further, President Uhuru Kenyatta witnessed the inking of an agreement between Huawei and the Government of Kenya that will see Huawei develop a Government Cloud Services Project.
The Chinese giant tech firm will also design data exchange and sharing platforms to collaborate government services and further offer training to 30 Kenyan youth in ICT over the next three years.
The firm will be credited in its role in modernization of police surveillance systems in Nairobi and Mombasa and has been a technology partner in the development of the Standard Gauge Railway that is set to begin operation next month.
The head of state lauded the Chinese firm for the big role they have played in ensuring Kenya develops in different sectors, promising his support the firm and other firms committed to betterment of Kenya. “Let us work together and we count on your support as we work on developing our technologies,” said the President when he met the CEO of Huawei Technologies.
