A section of Jubilee Party officials from the Mt Kenya region have registered dissatisfaction with the way the party’s Secretary General Raphael Tuju is running the party affairs. Over 190 officials drawn from ten counties say Tuju is micromanaging the ruling party and should be axed.
The officials have demanded to have a meeting with the party leader, President Uhuru Kenyatta to raise their grievances on the matter.
“The secretariat has been very economical on the flow of information. The secretariat is not the party but employees of the party and must respect us,” said Alhaji Mwendia, as reported by The Nation.
The aggrieved group is further demanding that they be involved in organizing the presidential campaigns in their respective counties, and have given the Jubilee secretariat a seven-day ultimatum to respond to their grievances. “All efforts to coordinate the presidential campaign must be done by the executives without any external interference,” Mwendia said.
Mwendia further demanded the polling clerks and officers who manned the recent Jubilee nominations and were yet to receive their payments be paid immediately.
“They should be paid before Tuesday and this is a demand. We think this is done deliberately for some people to benefit from what they did not work for.”
