Nairobi’s “prettiest thug” Claire Mwaniki was laid to rest in an unorthodox ceremony in her home in Kambirwa village, Murang’a County on Thursday.
Only a few her friends showed up in the ceremony for fear of being spotted by police officers whose presence was evident during the ceremony.
It was a rare ceremony as no eulogy program or tributes were read during the ceremony of the girl who was shot down by police officers in Nairobi’s Kayole estate after a gun engagement with the police.
Tense mood dominated the funeral ceremony with mourners seemingly suspicious of each other, while none of her immediate family members addressed the mourners.
Drama would later ensue after police stormed the ceremony and arrested a few individuals who were believed to be working with the lady gangster who terrorized residents of different estates in Nairobi.
Sources revealed that the 17-year-old Claire dropped out of form one in 2013 after she was punished by the school principal for an offense, and moved to Nairobi. She later got married to a famous Nairobi gangster who introduced her to a life of crime.

Some people are just criminals. Nothing can save them.
@ Kenyan American, please don't be quick to condemn and judge the late Dada Mwaniki.
She " self employed herself " by doing exactly what Waiguru did with a pen. Unfortunately she used a " pistol."
Our corrupt leaders are preoccupied with building very expensive gated houses when millions of the Kenyan people are starving and some even dying of hunger.
Where and when was the beauty contest done to determine the prettiest gangster...must have missed it.
Anyway, I agree with you Kenyan American. Some people are just criminals,and nothing can be done about it,other than lock them,or kill them. otherwise they will continue to pester society.Only those who have a consience,are remorseful and regret their crimes stand a change at rehabilitation...
@Ndugu Maxiley:
What is the difference between the people responsible for the Kenyan holocaust that happened after the stolen election of 2007 and Dada Mwaniki?
What about the many people that have disappeared during the Kamau, Toroitich, and Uhuru's leadership?
There is no difference between a thief, rapist, or murderer in a three piece suit living in Runda or Muthaiga and poor Dada Mwaniki living in Kibera, Kayole or Mathare. All of them are social misfits and should be prosecuted, judged and condemned equally.
Sure I have no problem will all those people you mentioned getting hanged,or burnt in public.My point is if all those acts you mention were done without a conscience,remorse,and indifferent to humanity, hang them....They are not fit to be called human beings.
17 yrs? a life wasted. Even nursery school teacher to say she was a nice girl when she was in nursery school.
