The High Court has ordered Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho to testify in person in a petition he filed at the court seeking to bar the state from pursuing him over forgery of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) result slip.
Justice Erick Ogola on Friday asked the parties involved in the case to prepare witnesses to allow the case be expedited.
“I want this matter to be concluded before the General Election because it might have some implication in the coming General Election,” said Justice Ogola.
The judge further ordered the parties to appear before the court on May 30 for them to settle on a hearing date of the main petition in which the Governor wants the State compelled to permanently stop any further investigation into claims that he forged the 1992 result slip.
The controversial county head filed a petition at the High Court after State agencies including the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the Immigration Department sought to probe the governor’s birth certificate, academic record and tax returns.
Joho is accused of forging a result showing he sat KCSE at Serani Secondary School in 1992, a slip he used to gain admission to the University of Nairobi. The governor dismissed the claims adding that he sat for KCSE exams at Serani in 1993 and then joined Kampala University in Uganda.
Joho is compelling the court to declare the actions by the State against him as oppressive, unfair, unreasonable, irrational, illegal and an abuse of power.

LOVING (and not hate mongers).
@Guest1, you are entitled to your opinion no matter how stupid and far fetched it might be. But Joho is neither wise nor loving by any stretch of imagination.
VICTIMLESS CRIMES
Let us assume and believe that Kaka Joho committed academic forgery. No body was hurt.
Jubilee Alliance has stolen billions of shillings. Everybody in Kenya is hurt. Let us first prosecute crimes where every citizen is hurt before we prosecute " victimless academic crimes."
It is a shame that we have to use "foreign academic standards" to judge our fellow Kenyans.
Njenga Karume was able to employ several Kenyans yet he did not have a high school education. He is definitely more important than the corrupt thugs with college degrees in our parliament who are not contributing anything to our national unemployment of the youth but are leaches and ticks to our national economy. They have not contributed anything substantial in alleviate the unemployment among our youth.
Before you prosecute Ali Hassan Joho, first arrest Dada Waiguru for the financial scandal and the theft of NYS money.
Uhuru, prosecute the thieves in your political party or resign and go back to your former occupation before you were politically rescued by Ndugu Kipkorios Toroitich Arap Moi when the people of Gatundu refused to elect you in our parliament.
Kenya needs WISE (not educated people) and LOVING (hate mongers) leaders. Wise leaders FROWN at corruption; LOVING leaders SHUN tribalism. And Joho (above and beyond Certificate Forgery) is a Very Wise and Very Loving.
