NASA principal and Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi has been endorsed by the NASA Summit as the Chairman of NASA National Campaign Committee (NACACO).
Mudavadi’s confirmation comes after a proposal to the Summit made by NASA flag-bearer Raila Odinga, recommending him for the esteemed yet difficult role.
The Summit consists of the party leaders of the five anchor parties Raila of Orange Democratic Movement, Wiper Democratic Party’s Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetang'ula of Ford-Kenya, Musalia Mudavadi of Amani National Congress and Isaac Ruto of Chama Cha Mashinani.
NACACO will be the top campaign decision-making unit and will have the mandate to coordinate the NASA presidential campaign and the overall NASA campaign machinery.
The former Vice President and Finance Minister will now head high level research ventures and strategy team of experts, communications, mobilization of resources, operations and logistics, and will be supported by a 24-hour presidential secretariat.
The NACACO team has ten highly qualified professionals who will be seconded by partner parties to oversee the 47 County Campaign Coordinating Committees (CCCCs), in 290 constituencies, the 1,450 wards to the 40,000 polling stations.
Mudavadi accepted the role, promising to deliver the best of his ability to ensure that NASA emerge the winner of the August polls.
"I have graciously accepted to play this pivotal role because I believe a win for NASA is a win for Kenyans. We have little time for sideshows so we are going flat out for the Jubilee jugular," Mudavadi said on Friday.
