It was joy after the Kenya Maritime Police rescued six Iranian nationals who have been stranded in the Indian Ocean for three months.
National Police Service Spokesman George Kinoti, in a statement to the media said that the six fishermen boarded a fishing vessel and were all safe.
“The National Police Service Maritime Unit on their routine border patrol within the Indian Ocean saw six Iranian nationals who had been stranded at the sea for about three months,” Kinoti said. “They were established to be a crew of a fishing boat christened MV, Al Muhamadu from the Port of Chabahar in Iran,” he added.
Kinoti said that the six will be handed over to Iranian Embassy in Nairobi where they will receive assistance to return to their country.
