Kenyan lawmakers on Wednesday dealt a major blow to Anne Waiguru, the Kirinyaga Jubilee aspirant for Governor and former Devolution Cabinet Secretary.
The National Assembly adopted a report by the Parliamentary Account Committee (PAC) recommending that Waiguru undergoes a lifestyle audit, investigation and be barred from holding public office. The move is in response to the alleged disappearance of Sh1.2 billion from the National Youth Service (NYS) account when Waiguru served in the Devolution ministry that is in charge of NYS.
In its report, the PAC recommended that Waiguru "be barred from holding public office, if found guilty after due process, in light of her overall leadership failures at the ministry.”
The lawmakers also say Waiguru is in violation of Chapter 6 of the Kenyan Constitution on integrity and ethics and thus not fit to hold public office.
If the parliamentarians have their way, Waiguru will be barred from running for Kirinyaga governor. She is the Jubilee candidate in the race and faces incumbent governor Josepah Ndathi (an independent candidate whom she beat in the Jubilee priamries) and Martha Karua of Narc-Kenya in the August 8th general elections.

She should be barred......at least until she's audited and exonerated....and by that time, time will have taken care of her candidacy - because her case should fall at the back of the backlog, not in-front. If she stole, or slept on the job while goons looted, then all of them, including her, must face the music and should not be left to hold any public office.
The Kirinyaga people do not seem to have a problem with their tax money theft . They chose to vote her to be their governor
They do not know what they are getting into but they can comfort themselves a" mali iko nyumbani" and it is their daughter> it is as if they got a percentage of the billions . oh yes they did she donated a table which was used for voting purpose
what goes in a human mind is a myth.
let us hope that the MPS who could have pinned her when it happened will do it now . I wonder why now? but again Kenya politics are dirty has someone doubts this could bring her party into trouble i.e not getting 100% vote for the beloved party
Then she will go to court and file an emergency injuction .. then the Mps will file another motion at supreme court .. then she will appeal at court of appeal .. then Mps will file probono motion .... this is such a confused country ..
