Raila Odinga Forms Legal Team ahead of August Elections

NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga has constituted a legal team that will be tasked to represent him in court in the campaign period for this year's general election.

The team of legal practitioners will handle legal matters on his ascendancy to the Presidency if he wins the August election.

The team that will be based at the Raila Odinga’s campaign secretariat in Nairobi’s Westlands area will be under the stewardship of Lawyer Paul Mwangi.

Mwangi has been a long-serving legal adviser of the former Prime Minister and has represented Odinga in several legal disputes, including the ongoing defamation case filed against him by former Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru over the National Youth Service scandal.

Sources within the Orange Democratic Movement leader campaign secretariat revealed that the team of lawyers will traverse across the country gathering material to counter any legal challenges that may arise should Odinga win the August polls.

One of the foreseen challenges includes possible contention of the presidential election in the Supreme Court.

Prof Ben Sihanya, an expert in intellectual property law, and Elisha Ongoya, a constitutional lawyer are other members of the legal team.
