The Government of Kenya has ordered the closure of all campuses belonging to two Kenyan Universities in Tanzania and Rwanda.
The Ministry of Education, through Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, directed Kenyatta University (KU) and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) to close their campuses in Rwanda and Tanzania.
This come just days after the Tanzanian government through Tanzania Commission of University Education blocked the two institutions and 17 others from admitting students in September citing unmet standards.
It is not however, clear why the Matiang'i issued the directive.
Kenyatta University had earlier announced that it will be closing all its campuses in Tanzania after the ban by Tanzania Commission of University Education.
Kenyan universities have in recent times opened satellite campuses in East African cities such as Kigali in Rwanda, in an attempt to sell their reputation beyond Kenya.

I guess TZ wanted Kenya institutions to teach in swahili as an instruction language.
Too sad
