The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has postponed parliamentary election for Kitutu Chache South Constituency in Kisii County, until a later date.
The Electoral Commission arrived at the decision following the death of the Jubilee Party candidate Leonard Gwaro Mwamba two weeks ago.
This will mean that voters in Kitutu Chache South constituency will only cast votes for the Presidential, Gubernatorial, Senatorial, Woman Representative and Member of County Assembly positions.
IEBC Commissioner Paul Kurgat said that the Commission will announce the election date for the post at a later date after the election, to allow Kitutu residents elect their Member of Parliament.
"We have resolved to postpone the Kitutu Chache South parliamentary elections to a later date," he stated.
The Commission said that Jubilee party delayed in nominating another candidate for the Constituency forcing the Electoral body to suspend the election.
Richard Onyonka of Ford Kenya and Orange Democratic Movement candidate Samuel Omwando are other candidates who are contesting for the seat.
Mwamba died two weeks ago after being involved in a road accident at Nyakoe Market along Kisii-Kisumu road, when a Land Cruiser Prado he was travelling in lost control and crashed.
